From photographer Katherine:Naomi and Ian were married at The Old School on East 11th street, it’s a historical home owned by the documentary photographer Alan Pogue and his wife. It’s an incredible house with a porch and tall ceilings and filled with Alan’s powerfully beautiful black and white photographs.Verde Camp. Though it was a stormy day, the rain stopped in time for the ceremony and held off for a beautiful outdoor dinner and dancing to Ian and his friends music.

Carrie and Neil had a red and white wedding with rockabilly and polka dot touches! The day was held at Highbury Hall in Birmingham and was full of DIY décor. "We would like to think we were far more relaxed, friendly and laid-back than other wedding we have been to", began the bride. "So many weddings we have been to seem so stiff and uptight as a whole. We wanted a fun party atmosphere with a live band playing lots rockabilly, plenty of food for people to stuff their faces, and encouraged dancing until your feet dropped off. The word 'formal' never entered our vocabulary."

Daisy and Leigh's retro wedding themed came about because they knew they wanted anything but a traditional day. "We decided to go down the retro/ vintage theme, but I also didn't want it to be the typical ‘vintage’ wedding style that is everywhere at the moment!" Daisy wrote. "I also didn't want a traditional sit-down meal so we had afternoon tea complete with cocktails served in teapots. The wedding eventually became about all of the things we love from the 1950s to the 1990s! I wanted our wedding to be really unpretentious and for everyone to have lots of fun."

The shot I shared of Nathan's reaction when seeing his bride walking down the aisle totally encompassed this awesome wedding. Rachel and Ryan wanted a beautiful but fun wedding so they decided on a subtle vintage carnival theme. They didn't want it to be cheesy or too overly done, and "No clowns" was top of their list of requirements. "We wanted it to feel like a beautiful whimsical wedding at a carnival and not have it be a cheesy carnival wedding," began Rachel. "We also wanted people to have a good time. We didn't want people saying 'that was nice' we wanted them to shout 'that was fun!' The ceremony was heartfelt enough to make you cry, but funny enough to make you laugh with quirky remarks and personal heartfelt vows. From the start we asked people on the invitations to wear bow ties and suspenders. Everyone loved the dress code and looked straight out of the 50s as the music blared."

Liz and Bryan were married at the famous Madonna Inn in California. The day was a beautiful mish-mash of a vintage candy store and a retro tattoo shop. "We really wanted to keep our wedding upbeat and light-hearted", wrote the bride. "I think the temporary tattoos, candy, giant wood cut outs and photo booth helped create a really fun environment. Halfway through the night the photo booth props became a part of the wedding and we had groomsmen in capes and dresses as the Hulk and Spiderman on the dance floor. It made the pictures hilarious."
