As a wedding planner, Celine had spent years organising weddings for other people. She knew what to expect when she got engaged, but when it came to her own day, she wasn’t interested in taking the traditional route. “Weddings can be whatever you want them to be,” she told us. “There’s no rulebook unless you decide to follow one.”

She and Kurtis wanted a wedding that felt like them. That meant relaxed, unpretentious and fun. She wanted to wear black and the industrial setting of Rainhard Brewery was the perfect characterful location which needed little to no extra decorations. She did make their ‘Til Death’ backdrop, signage and the giant LOVE letters though. “We weren’t trying to be edgy or different for the sake of it,” Celine said. “I just wanted to feel like myself. If I’d worn white, it wouldn’t have felt like me.”

Their vision was simple: a night that felt more like a party than a performance. Instead of a plated dinner, they brought in food trucks, letting guests eat when and what they wanted. Espresso martinis were served as the welcome cocktail and all the formalities were stripped back. There was no assigned seating, no formal dances, and no ceremony. Instead, they played a video that told their story, featuring a skit about how they met, a montage of their time together with friends, and footage of the private ceremony they done earlier.

The couple also curated their own playlist and gave it to the DJ to ensure the music set the exact tone they wanted. Games like cornhole and pinball were available, giving people the chance to play if they wanted a break from the dance floor.

For Celine and Kurtis, the best part of their wedding was knowing that every choice reflected what they actually wanted, not what was expected. “Whatever you want to do, you can do”. the bride concluded. “It’s your money, your day, and it should be your way. At the end of the day, you will never be able to please everyone. So stop worrying so much and just do whatever is going to make you happy!”
