Its the time of year where everyone likes to look back on the last 365 (or in this year’s case, 366!) days and reminisce. We feature incredible real weddings almost every single day on the website, our social media platforms, and of course exclusive ones in print too! So, we thought we’d take a moment to look back through and see all the couples and stories which made the biggest impression.
These are the top ten most viewed, engaged with and shared real wedding from 2024 and wow what a bunch of beauties they are! It seems this year was all about colour, unique outfits and lots of DIY details – long may that continue!
We can’t wait to see what trends 2025 brings, but for now, let’s take a moment to bask in the beauty and creativity of some of the couples we were lucky enough to publish this year.
1. A Celebration of Autumn and Art
Georgina and Benjamin brought their love story and artistic passions together to create a wedding that was both personal and picturesque. For Georgina, a talented tattooist from Southampton, and Benjamin, a devoted fan of Gilmore Girls, their wedding day seamlessly combined these passions with autumnal hues and motifs. The day was a celebration of warm tones, Georgina’s artistry, and their love of the autumn season.
Their wedding was published in issue 59 of the print magazine, but went OFF when we shared a preview on Instagram, making it one of our most viewed of the year!
2. Colourful, Simple & Full of Love
This vibrant wedding was a celebration of local flair, love and a relaxed vibe that perfectly reflected their personalities. Steph and Mike’s wedding was held at the Summerhill Bowling Club in Newcastle Upon Tyne and was a bright, joyful affair, featuring lots of local and seasonal details. They found inspiration in simplicity, wanting their wedding to complement the bowling club’s beautiful gardens. They aimed to create a day that reflected their unique love story without trying too hard to be different.
Another print feature! Steph and Mike were published in issue 57 but Instagram sure did love them (and Steph’s incredible floral yellow dress by Bexbrides) too.
3. Homemade Garden Wedding with a DIY Dress
When filmmaker Alexandra Preisz got engaged to visual artist Jaime, she decided to document the entire planning process on TikTok, especially when it came to her dress. Her series quickly went viral, with the bride-to-be sharing every step of the design, fabric sourcing and fitting process with her followers. While she initially envisioned reworking a vintage gown, she wasn’t able to find thew sort of thing she wanted, so with the help of her stylist friend Fleur Egan and couturier Olivia Deur, she set about creating something entirely original instead.
4. Moody Church Wedding with Religious Iconography
Cath and Tony chose their wedding venue, Ullet Road Unitarian Church in Liverpool for the dark gothic vibes and because their home is filled with ironic displays of religious iconography. The dark backdrop was perfect place for their celebration which included a cream Cadillac, a pizza wedding breakfast and an acrobat contorting herself to Metallica songs! They also had burlesque dancer, a lady wearing Prosecco skirt, a jazz singer, loads of neon signs and an arcade game station!
5. A Pink Fairytale Matrimony at The Madonna Inn
Once upon a time in the middle of a pandemic, Ellysa and Jaimy met on Hinge. They moved in together in 2021 and planned a quick getaway to their dream lodging, The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, CA. While they were there, they couldn’t stop talking about how much the place just felt like them, and even though they weren’t even engaged, spoke about how one day they would get married there!
The kitsch, dreamlike backdrop which was perfect for their celebration which was brimming with pink hues and swan motifs.
6. €5,000 Grey & Burgundy Italian Beach Wedding
Fabiana and Nicole got married in the beach, with the picturesque backdrop of Albissola Marina, behind them. With a budget of just €5,000, they made clever choices to keep the costs down, such as both brides wearing dresses made for them by their mothers!
7. Mystical Masquerade Wedding on Halloween
The Old Absinthe House in New Orleans served as the perfect backdrop for their ‘Monsters, Legends and Myths Masquerade’ themed Halloween wedding. When Bridget and Quintin envisioned their dream wedding, they pictured a scene straight out of a spooky, enchanted tale. Their love for Halloween and the allure of New Orleans was their guiding light when planning a day that fused tradition with the fantastical. The planning began in early 2020, with a trip to New Orleans intended for that Halloween. Unfortunately, the pandemic postponed their travel plans, but not their spirits.
Their full story was published in issue 57.
8. Floral Themed Wedding at a Bowling Alley
The inspiration for Vanessa and Sean’s wedding was their love of florals, and a desire to break away from tradition. Vanessa, knowing early on that a conventional wedding dress wasn’t for her, stumbled upon the most incredible floral fabric which then led her to finding Rosie Red Corsetry & Couture, who she worked with to create her one-of-a-kind dream dress!
9. Intimate Desert Boho Wedding
While many flock to Vegas for quick chapel weddings, Imani and Trey wanted something different. With just their four parents as witnesses, they said their vows in the middle of the Nevada desert. Their intimate ceremony was not just a declaration of their love but a reflection of their journey together. They met online, said ‘I love you’ on their first date and moved in together a week later! Nothing about their courtship was conventional so their wedding wasn’t going to be either.
Their full story was published in issue 55.
10. Celestial & Tarot Wedding in Portland
Misty and Alicia brought their shared love for creativity, fandom, and DIY into their Portland wedding day – almost everything was handcrafted by the brides! Misty’s job involves selling her incredible artwork at fan conventions across the US, so they even had a cute vendor booth for “merch”! Although the couple loved the idea of incorporating several different themes, they eventually landed on a blend of celestial and tarot aesthetics, with a nod to the convention scene.
