Colourful Vegas-Style Elopement Recreating their First Date

Kitty Loves Love

Jaymin and Sean decided to elope in their hometown of Perth, Australia, before heading to Europe for five weeks of travelling and going to rave festivals! They got hitched on a weeknight in their favourite local park, with their rescue greyhound, Moni, and just three witnesses. Afterwards, they popped into the city with their photographer where they basically recreated their first date – heading to an old school Miami style bar, to the arcades to play the first game they played together, then for ice cream just after sunset. They then met up with their mates again for dinner!

“We’ve never wanted a big wedding,” Jaymin told us. “We originally wanted a Vegas wedding, but life happened so we changed our plans and decided to elope in our own city. We wanted bright, vibrant and quirky to match our personalities.”

The couple exchanged vows on a Wednesday evening in Queen’s Gardens, a quiet green sanctuary not far from their home. “We laughed, we cried—it was beautiful,” Jaymin shared.

After the ceremony, they retraced the steps of their first date in the city. They stopped at an old-school Miami-style bar, revisited the arcade where they first played a game together, and wrapped up the evening with ice cream at sunset. The day ended with an Asian fusion dinner and cake shared with their small group of witnesses. “It was just a few hours long, but it was perfect,” Jaymin said. “We planned everything around what felt right for us.”

The couple skipped many traditional wedding elements. Jaymin did her own make-up, and their outfits weren’t explicitly wedding attire. They chose a free venue, kept decorations minimal, and even found cost-effective alternatives for their rings. “Sean’s ring is tungsten—cheap but highly durable,” Jaymin noted. “We didn’t need anything flashy.” Their biggest splurge was on their photographer.

When asked about their biggest challenge, Jaymin admitted it was keeping the wedding a secret. “We had a vision board, and not being able to share it was tough,” she said. Still, she stands by their decision to do things their way. “It’s not about anyone else except the both of you. Do what makes you happy. If we were to do it all over again, we’d still elope, just maybe somewhere in Europe!”
