I recently saw a Thread where the poster pointed out that luxury wedding workshop shoots often exclude marginalised couples or those with tattoos, piercings, or other alternative styles . I haven’t been able to stop thinking about how accurate that is! As you know, I’m all about celebrating alternative shoots and weddings (obviously!), but just because someone doesn’t appear to be straight, white, or fit a certain body ideal doesn’t mean they aren’t interested in the luxury end of the wedding market.
Here at Rock n Roll Bride, we feature weddings across the entire budget spectrum, yet people often assume a ‘Rock n Roll Bride wedding’ must always be low-budget. That couldn’t be further from the truth!
When the images from the y’ALL Workshop in Atlanta landed on my desk, it felt like a serendipitous moment. Organiser and host Milly of The Rose Reflective told us, “I wanted to create something truly original. Our venue was a marvellous blank canvas, and I envisioned red draped fabric everywhere, complemented by red and pink florals. I wanted the shoot to feel luxurious yet unconventional—subtly vampire-inspired—and I think we nailed it.”
She went on to explain, “The whole focus of the y’ALL Workshop is to promote inclusivity in the wedding industry while educating photographers on how to best serve LGBTQIA+ couples. So often, these workshops only feature thin, white, cisgender models. We wanted queer couples to see themselves proudly reflected in our photographers’ portfolios.”
The next y’ALL Workshop is taking place in March 2025, so if you’re local to Atlanta, I highly recommend checking it out!

It's not often that I feature styled wedding shoots these days, quite simply because I have so many incredible real weddings to share with you! However when photographer Gary of Marshal Gray sent over this 'three brides' editorial that he shot at Belt Craft Studios, I had to bend my rule. I love the style of this session, especially how odd and slightly creepy it all is. This is certainly not something I see very often in wedding photography.

How amazing would that be!? OK so that'd probably not going to happen in Hollywood, but it did at Fremantle’s South Beach, Western Australia!

It usually it takes a couple of months for something to be published on the blog after I receive a submission for a feature (yes, my wait list is huge!) but when Barbie and Kendra's perfect pink pride-filled shoot landed in my inbox yesterday, and in light of the utterly tragic events in Orlando this week, I knew I had to let us skip the queue and feature it as soon as physically possible.
