In November 2023, Vogue published an article about the rise of gender-neutral wedding attire, fully cementing the idea that gender and fashion don’t have to be dependent on one another.
The wedding industry is probably one of the biggest places where gender norms are constantly reinforced: white wedding dresses for the bride, black suits for the groom. LGBTQ+ couples are often an afterthought, and nonbinary and trans folks – often not thought of at all! We’re sick and tired of it, and although this industry has a long way to go, it is getting better, especially with more alternative suppliers and publishers.
Issue 58 was dedicated to EXPRESSING YOURSELF and doubling down on who you are for your wedding. So, we thought a shoot showing some gender nonconforming attire options was the perfect choice. Shot in Las Vegas in collaboration with That Chapel Downtown and P3 Events, our model Zara embraced both their masculine and feminine sides to create a shoot that contrasts the two and looked absolutely incredible in both!
