When Hannah and Nate decided to tie the knot, they knew they didn’t have a lot to spend, but that wasn’t going to stop them having the wedding they wanted. Both line cooks, they were lucky enough to be offered the restaurant where the bride works as their venue, which they used after hours. Everything else was homemade and their secondhand outfits were pieced together from pieces found at Poshmark and Goodwill, totalling less than $50 combined!

They were very much inspired by the season for the October celebration. “We combined our mutual love of Halloween, fall, music, and crazy colours with the sentimental meaning behind New York’s Chinatown”, Hannah told us. “The result was totally perfect for us. Bats and ghosts were prevalent, which worked with our bat and ghost wedding rings.”

The intimate setting hosted 40 of their closest friends and family members, each one invited to come as they were, in whatever they felt most comfortable. “We stressed to everyone that this would be a very comfortable, casual event, and wanted our guests to wear whatever the hell they wanted”, the bride continued. “Absolutely everything was DIY. The decorations, dried flower arrangements, food, my sister made the cake… Even the mixed drinks were concocted by us, and the cutting boards that the charcuterie were on were made by us as well.”

Trying to make everyone happy with such a limited budget was their biggest challenge, but in the end they were so incredibly proud of what they achieved for next to no budget. “We had such limited resources but the day was great”, Hannah concluded. “Honestly, don’t go above and beyond for other people or stress yourselves out by trying to live beyond your means. You can celebrate your love for one another with your loved ones on any budget.”

“Rock n Roll Bride was a huge help and inspiration for us during the whole process. Being able to see other people in similar situations who were able to create such beautiful, special days was absolutely necessary for us. I’d probably still be freaking out about how to pay for a caterer or something equally as ridiculous if it weren’t for your inspiration so THANK YOU!”
