A Five Guys Elopement

While plenty of engaged couples fantasise about running away and eloping, Rebecca and Craig did exactly that. Their simple ceremony was held at Orange County Courthouse in Orlando, and afterwards they went to Five Guys for burgers and milkshakes! In total, they spent £2,000, with their biggest cost being the photographer.

“We both just wanted a relaxed and spontaneous destination wedding,” Rebecca told us. “I’ve always loved the style of spontaneous Vegas and elopement weddings, and I remember seeing Lily Allen’s wedding at In-N-Out Burger and thinking it was cool AF!”

They originally thought they’d have a Disney World wedding, but scrapped it when they realised a destination wedding would mean a lot of their loved ones couldn’t make it. After toing and froing for over a year about what to do, they eventually decided to go to Orlando on holiday—two days at the theme parks and then on a cruise—and get married at the same time!

Despite the low-key nature of the wedding, it wasn’t without its hiccups. Their flight was cancelled, meaning they were going to miss their time slot at the courthouse. Everything had to be rebooked with 24 hours’ notice! “I don’t think you could re-plan everything so quickly with many weddings, but thankfully we had so little to reschedule that it all worked out!” Rebecca said. “In hindsight, I wish we’d given ourselves more time between arriving and the wedding!”

After the ceremony, their photographer suggested going to Five Guys to get some pictures and food. “I think if I’d been back in the UK, I’d have been sort of embarrassed to go somewhere so public in a wedding dress, but the locals were so friendly and couldn’t believe we’d just gotten married!” she said. “A kind man even paid for our meal, and the staff and some customers asked if they could take pictures with us, which made us feel like celebrities! Every time I go to Five Guys now, it will remind me of our day and make me smile!”
