Jim and Georgie’s wedding was the epitome of an outdoor enthusiast’s dream, blending their love for rock climbing, van living and the great outdoors. Their June wedding, set in Wrekin Forest, was not just a ceremony but a weekend-long festival experience!
The couple described their wedding theme as “a mixture between a woodland fairytale and a camping weekend festival. We love spending weekends in our converted Campervan with our friends so wanted a similar experience for our wedding. We wanted to hire a venue where people could park their vans or set up tents and relax for the weekend.”
What made their wedding truly stand out was the full utilisation of the campsite, offering guests unique experiences like a BBQ around fire pits, morning yoga classes, and a range of forest school activities including archery, air rifle shooting and woodwork.
Their ceremony began with Georgie’s entrance to the Vitamin String Quartet’s version of Bitter Sweet Symphony. Their personalised vows and inclusion of their daughter and dog in the proceedings made it all feel very special. “Our dog Eddie able to walk around freely for the day and stood on my veil whilst I walked down the aisle!” Georgie laughed. “We were married outside on the lawn with a mountain shaped backdrop as a reference to our joint love for the mountains and how we met climbing. My husband wore a red suit which he has kept as a surprise until the day. ‘If I can’t see your dress why should you see my suit’ he said. He also didn’t know that our daughter would be in a matching dress to my veil.”
The reception continued the celebration’s fun-filled atmosphere, with DIY decorations crafted by the couple and their friends, a buffet meal and a range of lawn games. The bridesmaids all wore different coloured dresses and the barn was full of hanging lights and homemade signs. The cakes were all made by a friend. They didn’t have any speeches but their first dance was to the Heavy’s Love Like That followed by a funk and soul band.
“We both love dancing together, so dancing all night to a great band with our friends was probably a highlight”, the bride said. And despite the pre-wedding worries about what they’d do if it rained, the day pretty much went off without a hitch. “Put yourselves first. It’s your day”, she concluded. “We had a few hiccups on the day but they really didn’t matter. It was perfect.”
