Known for its honey-coloured stone villages, historic market towns and lush, rolling hills, the Cotswolds is one of the UKs most picturesque spots. Its therefore no surprise to us at all that Elmore Court, which dates back to 1580, is such a popular place to get married!
Today, we’re excited to swing open their gates and digitally explore this extraordinary estate with you. Just imagine tying the knot in a place where every stone, every beam and every pane of glass has witnessed thousands of love stories, as well a family’s history, for over 400 years!
Elmore Court is a family home first and foremost, and the owners actually still lived there up until only a few years ago. This country pile is a wonderfully eclectic mix of different architecture, from Elizabethan through to Victorian, and almost all of the alterations over the years were done specifically to entertain.
Elmore Court have also always wanted to ensure that what they do is aligned with the needs of nature and the environment. They are working tirelessly to ‘re-wild’ a large part of the 250-acre estate, The Gillyflower (their dinner and dancing hall) is built from materials from their own land, and the hot water, heating and power is renewable. As much as possible, the food they serve is also grown by them or locally and seasonally, too!
Your wedding booking comes with the usage of 16 bedrooms for you and your guests, a coach house which features 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a sitting room with a sofa bed is perfect for bridal parties to stay in the night before, and a wedding coordinator to assist you before and on your day.
They have also just built six treehouse cabins which can be booked as additional accommodation – they’re going to be such a cool addition to many an alternative wedding for years to come! Each comes with an outdoor copper bath, a firepit and a luxurious, super comfortable bed!
“Elmore is perfect for the alternative bride”, they say, “she’s historic and vintage with a modern, upbeat reception area, a magical juxtaposition of the both. We think that every wedding should be personal, fun and of course beautiful. That is what we provide at Elmore; for you to have the wedding that reflects you and your dreams in a place we hope will exceed all your expectations.”
So, if you’re dreaming of a wedding that breaks free from the ordinary, that celebrates your love in a setting that’s steeped in history while still being homely, friendly and welcoming, then look no further!
