In the enchanting setting of Iron Manor in Montgomery, TX, Mark and Zelina embarked on a love story inspired by one of the most iconic couples in cinematic history, Gomez and Morticia Addams. This classy goth wedding was a celebration of their endless love for each other, set against a backdrop of moody and romantic aesthetics.
For Mark and Zelina, The Addams Family was more than just a movie; it was one of the first films they watched together, sparking a love that would ultimately lead to their wedding theme and inspire their entire marriage. “We knew we wanted The Addams Family to be not only our wedding inspiration but the inspiration for our entire marriage”, Zelina shared.
The bridal party walked down the aisle to the Addams Family theme, setting the perfect tone for what was to come. Zelina then walked down to an acoustic version of This Modern Love by Bloc Party. The flower girls wore black tulle dresses paired with combat boots, while the ring bearer carried a small coffin containing their wedding bands.
At the reception they served mini street tacos and had a Dark New Wave hour incorporating lots Spanish songs as nod to the bride’s Mexican heritage. Both were huge hits with everyone!
The space was decorated in a classy yet gothic style, mostly using pieces they thrifted or already owned. They also created Addams Family postcards for their guests to sign. This was extra special as Mark asked Zelina to be his girlfriend through a postcard. “It was a nice touch, reminding us of our journey together”, Zelina said.
Mark’s favourite moment of the day was first catching a glimpse of Zelina in her white dress just before the ceremony, while Zelina really loved the end of the night, as they opened their presents alone in their AirBnB. “It was a private, beautiful ending”, she recalled. “We also had a private dance outside, alone.”
“I am so glad your magazine exists,” the bride concluded. “It helped me through navigating diet culture and not trying to keep up with trends. It reminded me that our wedding was going to be special because I found the person I want to be with and not because of any trend or fad that we did.”
