Darrian and Catarina had their first date at Graceland, so when they started planning their wedding, they knew immediately where they wanted to say their vows. The couple incorporated their own unique style into the theme which mixed Edwardian, Victorian, and 60s rock ‘n’ roll.
The ceremony was filled with Elvis music and the couple lit a unity candle, which although a nice touch, was not without mishap – the bride accidentally spilled wax all down herself! Despite the wax, she still felt beautiful in her Ieie Bridal gown.
After the ceremony and photos on the grounds of Graceland, they headed to Balinese Ballroom for the reception. For DIY projects, the couple purchased 35 pumpkins from a local pumpkin patch to use as centrepieces. “The best part of planning our wedding was getting it over with!” Catarina admitted. “The worst thing was being alone to plan because of being long distance.”
Although they loved their day, in hindsight, the couple wishes they would have eloped. “We would have saved a lot of money and emotions,” they admit, “And the wedding industry can be really overpriced. Don’t forget what YOU want. Emotions will run high, be gentle with each other.”

As Hilary and Ronnie both work in TV production, it makes perfect sense that their wedding was inspired by one of their favourite shows. “I know 1920s themed weddings are really popular, but we were keen to avoid the ‘Gatsby’ look,” explained Hilary. “I really studied the set design on Peaky Blinders to get a rustic 1920s vintage look with the over the top glitz. We also really wanted our guests to have fun with costumes since we were getting married so close to Halloween, which is our favourite holiday."
