Alex and Yevgeni knew for a long time that they wanted a small, intimate Halloween wedding. They in October at Allenby Farm in Be’er Ya’akov, Israel. with 60 guests. Their friends and family came in costumes, a friend officiated the ceremony (while wearing a cape) and the bride designed and painted the artwork for the invitations, signage, table numbers and labels for the cider bottles inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas (featuring their cats). Alex also opted to wear a purple dress which she designed herself and had a local seamstress make for her.
“We are both real geeks and love Halloween, costumes and autumn,” the bride told us, “When we met 8 years ago, we bonded over Tim Burton movies. I don’t think there are a lot of weddings where you see the groom chatting with a t-rex and a witch while drinking whiskey! The temporary tattoo stand was a hit too, our guests had to explain the sudden appearance of tattoos at work the next day! Our DJ also did a wonderful job, we specifically wanted alternative music and that’s what we got. I never thought I would see my mum dancing to System of a Down. People danced until the last minute!”
Their biggest cost was their wedding day stylist, Vickoo Design , who came in and put all their ideas and DIY projects together on the day. Hiring her meant they were able to relax morning-of and really enough the day so it was an expense well worth it. “She made our dreams come true and went way beyond what we expected”, Alex said. “At the beginning I thought about doing a DIY wedding but I started a new job and realised I need a professional!”

“Take a deep breath and remember it’s only one day,”, Alex advises in conclusion. “Try to have fun with it as much as you can. Also – good photographers and videographer are a must!”

Chris and Ursula met at the age of 18, when they were both obsessed with music and played in a combined schools orchestra. "He had a massive curly shoulder-length afro at the time, I wore a pink school uniform; he played oboe, I played clarinet", she said. "We bonded over car rides home and his mum’s choc-chip cookies. We were shy young things though and didn't eventually get together until a year or so later, after I returned from living in Denmark for a year."

You're going to love Erica & Ryan's homespun, diy wedding...and you're certainly going to love their story. I was over the moon to receive these gorgeous images from photographer Katie and even more chuffed when Erica got in touch with all the juicy details.
"Ryan and I originally thought we would just have a courthouse wedding, and then have a big party. Of course, our parents were not so thrilled with the idea. We also did not want anyone else planning or making decisions for OUR wedding/party, because we did not want it to be the same old wedding and the same old reception that we've all attended twenty times before. Nothing against traditional weddings, we're just not traditional. We also were looking to keep it cheap simply because we think it's silly to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a few hours. All we really needed was the two of us looking snazzy and an amazing photographer."

With a budget of just $2000, Matt and Kat said "I do" at their own home the day after Halloween. "We christened our newly purchased house for our wedding!" the bride said. "We had spent several months renovating the old home’s interior but hadn't moved in yet, so all the rooms in the house were empty. We transformed a (future) bedroom into a bar, another bedroom into a dinner/pot luck area. We strung friends’ borrowed Christmas lights all over the house, set up a PA system in the empty living room and called it a venue with a dance floor! Our new neighbour, George, who became a great friend during our move, let us perform the ceremony in the empty lot next to his house."

Night of the Living Wed

This ghoulish, retro horror themed wedding may not be everybodys cup of tea but I can't help but be a little over-excited about it. So. Much. Originality! Photographer Al, who has just been shortlisted for 'Tattoo Photographer of the Year' was keen to tell me all about Ash and Michelle Ghoulmore's (oh yes!) friday the 13th wedding.
The couple run retro rebels store and the horror-themed clothing company Kreepsville 666 so their wedding was always going to be a spooky special. 'Ghoulmore' actually is Ash's surname and they pretty much live Halloween everyday, so it was fitting to pick a horror / b-movie inspired Wedding theme.
"This meant I had to light the formals in a slightly different way to ensure I got that punchy highly saturated contrasty feel that fits with the mood" photographer Al told me. "This was the first time I've seen a smoke machine used during the ceremony! The archway was decorated with skulls and light like a stage. As you can see form the photos the cake was a skull and all the attendees got to take home a set of cast-silver effect fangs to say 'fangs for coming' [groan]. Zombina and the Skeletones provided the live music for the reception, again fitting the horror-rockabilly theme."
