This is a photo shoot in two parts, with two sets of real life couple models. Inspired by the 70s, we actually published a few shots in our last print issue, but we loved the images so much we wanted to share the full set with you today too!
Photographer Angela Gallo was inspired by a vintage shop near her home for the styling, “It’s basically a 70s dream!” she said. “One day I saw this little vintage lace wedding dress that caught my eye, and that’s when the idea hit me. I wanted to showcase two sides of an era, with the retro 70s bohemian look and a more retro-glam look.”
Put together with help from the OverEasy Events team, Angela chose East End Market in Orlando, FL as their venue. “It’s a working market that gives off dynamic energy”, she continued, “and it has indoor and outdoor spaces that can be transformed into any event vision.”
“We wanted to put a modern twist on a 70s inspired wedding. The colours in this retro-glam shoot came together perfectly for fall. We loved being able to put together something that stands out but also can inspire couples to create their wedding to reflect them.”

Shannon Collins
February 25, 2014
Coming across the most amazingly colourful house by chance one day, wedding photographer Shannon Collins dreamed of being able to do a shoot there. Well fate stepped in, making it a possibility, so she knew she had to make it extra magical!
"Last year, I was photographing a couple in Philadelphia for an engagement shoot", wrote Shannon. "On my way home, a few minutes from the location, I drove past a lovely yellow house with tons of pink flamingos scattered across the lawn. I screeched my brakes and drove in reverse so I could capture a quick snapshot of the house. It instantly reminded me of the John Waters film, 'Pink Flamingos' and made me smile."

Surprise Pool Party Wedding Recreation
Kat
November 19, 2012
Oh I love a surprise wedding! And a surprise wedding + pool party!? EPIC!
But this wasn't actually a real wedding (sad face) although it was set up as a recreation of the actual wedding of some friends of the photographer who were married 30 years ago. Jessie & Kenny had this actual wedding, in this exact same spot in 1982 (some of their wedding photos are at the end of the gallery - how amazing are they?!) So to celebrate, and to have an their anniversary party with a difference, they decided to relive the whole thing. This is a styled shoot with a difference and, yes, they really had the big party afterwards!

There's been all sorts of uproar in the press about Ariel having given blonde hair (shock horror!) in the Little Mermaid reboot that's set to hit the silver screen in 2017... but imagine if they made Eric a girl! How amazing would that be!? OK so that'd probably not going to happen in Hollywood, but it did at Fremantle’s South Beach, Western Australia!

Acceptable in the 80s…
Kat
July 21, 2012
The 80s isn't a wedding theme we see a lot of. I guess because many of us have scars from the highly flammable, putrid peach bridesmaids dresses we were forced to wear throughout our childhoods... however a modern update is in order IMHO! Which is why I loved this shoot, submitted by wedding photographer Michelle McGreevy-Squier. Not only did the team take iconic 80s motifs and run with it, but they uses same-sex couples as the stars.
Stylist & florist David Garcia of Statue of Design was the driving force behind the shoot and the one who came up with the initial concept, "The idea is based on the concept of equality. So much of the wedding industry is focused and targeted to straight couples. But I want my current clients, and my potential ones, to know that I am a floral designer for everyone. There is a huge market for GLBTQI couples, but we aren’t reaching them. I want to change that."
