They met 14 years ago at a mutual friends house and were married last May in Gruissan, a village in the South of France on the coast of the Mediterranean sea. After a traditional church ceremony, led by the bride’s father who’s the deacon there, Camille and Chris hosted their reception at La Cambuse du Saunier, a local restaurant with a function room that they could decorate themselves.
Camille, a florist by trade, undertook most of the decorations herself. From the flowers to the table decorations and even the catering, this was a DIY wedding in all senses of the word. In fact, they did so much themselves that they only spent €5000.
“Our wedding theme was beachy and Rock n Roll”, said the bride. “We almost made everything by ourselves. I created all the floral decorations with peonies, bougainvillea and protea. I drew the sketches for the reception room decoration and Chris did all the stuff that was high up. We had fake tattoos for kids and for the dinner, we cooked a lot by ourselves. We had different salads and big plates of berries, etc.”
“There’s nothing we’d do differently about our wedding however we did have a friend do the video and some important moments were missing. In retrospect we should have hired a professional! Our advice for other couples is to not stress out of proportion and accept that some little things won’t go the way you planned. Also, don’t hesitate to ask for help! We had the wedding of our dreams with awesome decorations, love, our favourite people and Rock n Roll. In short, our wedding was exactly like us!”
