Wallpaper has become quite the divisive factor in the Rock n Roll Bride household. It began when we lived in our old place and I fell head over heels for a limited edition Cole & Son’s paper which was designed by Vivienne Westwood. At the time we definitely couldn’t afford it, I think it was about £80 a roll, and Gareth insisted we could find something similar for less than half the price. Fast forward through over 18 months of searching literally everywhere for something in any way similar (that we both also liked!) and Gareth finally admitted defeat and told me I could order it.
Of course, by then it was sold out EVERYWHERE and impossible to get hold of. I promised myself then and there that if I ever loved something as much as I loved that damn wallpaper I would buy now, think later and never live under such a shadow of regret ever again.
So here we are, in our new home, and although picking wallpapers is a long way off (we kinda need all our floors first, right?) I have started sneakily keeping my eye on what’s available. I came across Woodchip & Magnolia on Instagram (where else!?) and I am smitten!
Like most UK produced wallpaper, all their papers are designed, printed and manufactured in Lancashire. But what makes Woodchip & Magnolia really special is that they digitally print their designs themselves in their own studio on the Pennine Moors. Each roll is then individually and loving wrapped by hand. By choosing to take a more hands-on artisan approach, their papers have a really high quality feel. In short, they’re really, really special and there’s nothing mass-produced about them!
I was lucky enough to be sent some samples by Nina, who runs the company, and their Monstera Green wallpaper with the blush background is my everything. I’m already 99% sure this is the paper that we’ll be using in our downstairs bathroom when it’s converted.
