Danielle and Alexander’s ranch wedding had a whimsical theme with a dark, bohemian vibe thrown into the mix. They were married in Florida in February.

“We took inspiration from a lot of different aspects”, began Danielle. “We wanted our wedding to truly represent us as a couple. We wanted little touches of whimsy throughout the decor, so we used ceramic bunnies because we have a pet rabbit. We wanted a minimalist feel with lots of delicate touches; like the parchment paper cone backdrop and the baby’s breath. Instead of going overboard with the decor, we worked with the natural beauty of our venue.”

“I’m somewhat of a crystal lover so we used amethyst geodes on the wedding cake, hematite crystals in my crown and his boutonniere. Each guest table was named after a crystal and we had rock candy on a sticks as our wedding favours.”

“I did a lot of the decor myself. Including the cake table and sign in area. My family and friends helped me make the backdrop of parchment paper cones that we used for the ceremony. Our guest tables had wood slices that Alex cut himself, glass candles that I wrapped in black lace, a ceramic bunny figurine and a mason jar filled with baby’s breath. The rest of the decor I put together or made myself. Thankfully, the venue already had some decor inside the buffet area that included antique items and animal skulls.”

When the bride couldn’t find a dress she liked, she pieced together her dream outfit herself. “I couldn’t seem to find what I envisioned anywhere”, she continued. “My lace top was from E.SSUE and the tulle skirt was by Terani Couture. My headpiece was made for me by my best friend using hematite crystals. I think both of our outfits were the one thing that made our wedding unique. Neither of us looked like your typical bride and groom, which was exactly what we were aiming for… mutual weirdness.”

“I wish I’d realised sooner not to stress the details”, she explained. “I mean, I knew this beforehand, but it’s completely different trying to actually live it. My best friend told me to focus on what I really wanted in my wedding and if it would really matter if it was there or not. That helped, a lot. I mean, as a bride, we all get these ideas of grandeur. But honestly, when it comes down to it, all that matters is that you are married.”
