Jasmina and Mihael’s Slovenian wedding was all about nature. They kept things small and they spent only €1000 on the day. “Our colours were white, black and dark green with elements of wood, jute and lace”, said the bride. “We wanted to have a lot of wooden elements and to completely ban plastic from our table sets.”
“We were inspired by other eco-friendly weddings that we saw online but we wanted to have our wedding under our terms. It was a really nice to have an outdoor wedding with home-prepared food. Everything was vegan and vegetarian too. We gave homemade hemp soap as favours.”
The ceremony took place in the gardens of a Kromberk castle. “Usually the weddings there take place inside or in front of the restaurant, but we managed to get the permission to have our ceremony in the beautiful outdoor amphitheatre next to the castle. The decorations were subtle but beautiful. At the beginning of the ceremony we had the singer, Maja Založnik, performing an acoustic song and then it all went from there. It was the happiest moments of our lives.”
“Another thing was was unique was that I sang to my groom in the evening. I stared with Etta James, At Last and then I entertained the guests with a few classics!”
“Our biggest expense was food and drinks for everybody but we really saved on our outfits. We would have been happy to spend more but in the end we both found what we wanted for a total of €60 for both of us!”

Lauren and Red's Pennsylvania wedding was a real team effort. It planned by the bride, her mother and their neighbour Patience. The wedding was held on the couple's own farm. "Patience taught us how to make homemade limoncello and smoked salmon and helped so much during the wedding making sure things ran smoothly", Lauren explained. "My mother is a crazy collector of beautiful dishes, as well as ideas. She is also a food connoisseur so she helped add tons of vision and plan the menu. Patience’s daughter got married the weekend before so we were able to share a lot of supplies and ideas which worked out very well as well as work trade. My mother in-law Eva planned the rehearsal dinner which also happened to be my birthday. She created a picnic outdoor super with barbecue chicken for 45 two days before the wedding. Bohemian Festival Wedding with Entertainment A-Plenty: Chris & Emmy

September 12, 2014
Chris and Emmy were married early in the day, so they wanted to lay on lots of entertainment for their guests. "We wanted a day that was relaxed, fun and family-friendly", wrote the bride. "We had our humanist hand fasting ceremony at 10:30 in the morning, so we wanted to make sure there was plenty for our guests to do throughout the day. We go to a lot of festivals and run a dance tent with my family called the Griffin Tent, so we used that as a starting point, using the marquee and having a pub quiz and live bands in the afternoon. The river running through Loudwater Farm is the same river we both played in as children (we've known each other since we were 11!), so we had fishing nets and wellies for everyone to paddle. We added archery, circus toys, dreamcatcher making and an art and crafts den, and finished up with a silent disco."
