Ray and Tah-Lia wanted their wedding to be as casual and laid back as possible. So they took a long time to organise the day (two years!) and made decisions that kept things simple.
“We love vintage clothing and really vintage everything and we wanted to have a fun wedding with minimal stress”, said the bride. “We also share a love for music so having a live band was a must, and we wanted a lively band that would get people dancing!”
“We organised everything ourselves! We bought the cake and wines from the grocery store (which saved us money) and bought a keg from Deschutes Brewery. We also had a friend do a fun photo booth during the reception for our guests to take pictures. We let our bridal party pick what they wanted to wear (as long as it was black) and tried to keep everything as simple as possible.”
To save money, they just hired their professional photographer to cover the ceremony. “We got married outside on the patio of our venue in Portland. We were expecting rain so we had originally planned to have the ceremony inside, but luckily for us the weather was really nice and we were able to do it outside. The bridesmaids, flower girl and bride walked down the aisle to Ride by Lana Del Rey and that was the only music during the ceremony. Our good friend married us and he wrote original vows for us. We kept it short and sweet and of course sealed the deal with a kiss!”
“The best thing about planning the wedding was that we did it together and kept it simple. We just wanted to throw a fun party for our closest friends and family and we had a fantastic time!”

Mr & Mrs Tattooboy’s Heavily Tattooed, Ass Kickin’ Rockabilly Wedding

Do you remember Mr & Mrs Tattooboy? The hot tattooed couple behind one of my favourite ever engagement sessions? Well check it out - they got hitched and I've got the exclusive on their killer wedding. When the couple first met, Kori was a cheerleader and Matt was a rocker and a tattooed artist. They soon fell in love and Kori starting getting just as much ink as her man!
"Kori & Matt’s aka Mr. & Mrs. Tattooboy, have this incredible rockabilly style & then some!!!" photographer Christina told me. "When I asked Kori about the details of her wedding she just told me she wanted it to be different from the normal-cheesy-blah type weddings, this made me really happy that she wasn’t giving in to what everyone else in the world was doing! Their unusual story & love for tattoos & rockabilly style was inspiration enough for these two lovers to plan their wedding."

Ahh Emily & Chris' Florida nuptials is what my wedding dreams are made of. Getting ready in the Hard Rock Hotel (my spiritual home for sure) this achingly cool pair had their beautiful wedding at Ybor City Museum Garden in Tampa. Emily wore the Greenbow lace gown by BHLDN and Miu Miu shoes, while Chris kept it casual yet chic in a checked shirt and a vintage velvet jacket combo. The 1970s is an era that many might feel should be left back with the flares, disco and Woodstock hippies, but I'm am here to tell you the exact opposite. How bloody cool are these two?!

Unlike so many Italian weddings that they'd been to before, Michelangelo and Francilla wanted a day that was big, ridiculous and most of all fun! They went for a vintage circus theme, and oh boy, they really did go all out on the theme! Francilla told me all about it, "In Italy it’s quite impossible to have a different wedding and not do everything traditionally. It’s so hard to get away from the 'rules' that everyone says you have to obey, but we worked hard to make sure we did! We would have never been happy to marry in this way, and luckily our families knew it!"

Carrie and Neil had a red and white wedding with rockabilly and polka dot touches! The day was held at Highbury Hall in Birmingham and was full of DIY décor. "We would like to think we were far more relaxed, friendly and laid-back than other wedding we have been to", began the bride. "So many weddings we have been to seem so stiff and uptight as a whole. We wanted a fun party atmosphere with a live band playing lots rockabilly, plenty of food for people to stuff their faces, and encouraged dancing until your feet dropped off. The word 'formal' never entered our vocabulary."

Retro Cartoon Wedding: Daisy & Leigh

Daisy and Leigh's retro wedding themed came about because they knew they wanted anything but a traditional day. "We decided to go down the retro/ vintage theme, but I also didn't want it to be the typical ‘vintage’ wedding style that is everywhere at the moment!" Daisy wrote. "I also didn't want a traditional sit-down meal so we had afternoon tea complete with cocktails served in teapots. The wedding eventually became about all of the things we love from the 1950s to the 1990s! I wanted our wedding to be really unpretentious and for everyone to have lots of fun."
