Emma and Chavez were married in London at Islington Town Hall. Before the ceremony they did some fun portraits with their photographer the Barbican Centre and on the London Underground and afterwards they had a low key reception at The Jugged Hare pub.
“We didn’t have a particular theme or inspiration”, said the bride, “we just chose things we liked and it came together on its own. We just focused on doing things the way we wanted them done without thinking too much about what we were *supposed* to do.”
The bride wore a short, retro inspired dress by Candy Anthony and carried a rose, thistle and daisy bouquet. “The only thing I wish I did differently on the day is that I would have liked to throw my bouquet”, she said, “but it was too heavy!”
“My advice for other couples would be to do your wedding your own way”, she concluded. “We didn’t have bridesmaids or groomsmen and we really saved money by having a small wedding. We also organised it within three months which limited the number of people who could attend.”

A Retro Americana Wedding: Ralph & Carly
Kat
August 22, 2012
Ralph & Carly love all things Americana and retro and so the theme for their wedding was easy to decide on. They wanted to incorporate the feeling of driving through America in an open top car - something they love to do in real life. Ralph had even proposed on a road trip through Arizona, one of their favourite places in the USA. "We love Americana and we feel that there is a big difference between what is retro and what is vintage", Carly explained. "We wanted our wedding to be all things that we love. We love nothing more than booking a flight and a car in the US and then exploring, although sometimes we end up in very peculiar places and cannot wait for daylight to arrive so that we can head out! For the most part though it's the way that we have discovered some of our favourite places. Each table was named after a hotel or motel that we have stayed in on our trips, there have been many others but these had the coolest signs."

My Beautiful Bride

Dani and Mark mat three years ago at Balham Bowls Club in south London. So when it came to choosing a venue for their October wedding, nowhere else could have been more perfect! "The night we met I was quite hungover and was out for a friend’s birthday, Mark was out for some drinks with his friend (and best man) Paul. Depending on who tells the story, I apparently gave Mark ‘the eye’ as he walked into the pub, which prompted him to start talking to me later in the evening, OR (my version) I don’t remember looking at Mark as he came in and wondered why he was staring at me all night. Either way, he bought me a rum and coke and we were inseparable ever since."

I'm definitely not only of those girly girls. I favour a bold and modern aesthetic over pretty pastels any day. But Joey & Mike's wedding slayed me when it landed in my inbox recently. And 'pretty' is really the only word I can use to best describe what I saw.

Tux and Tales

Daisy and Leigh's retro wedding themed came about because they knew they wanted anything but a traditional day. "We decided to go down the retro/ vintage theme, but I also didn't want it to be the typical ‘vintage’ wedding style that is everywhere at the moment!" Daisy wrote. "I also didn't want a traditional sit-down meal so we had afternoon tea complete with cocktails served in teapots. The wedding eventually became about all of the things we love from the 1950s to the 1990s! I wanted our wedding to be really unpretentious and for everyone to have lots of fun."
