If you want to wear a black wedding dress but you’re more woodland nymph than gothic princess, you’re going to adore today’s photo session. Shot in the woods in the Pacific Northwest, the bride wears a show stopper black wedding gown by Claire La Faye .
“I had dreamed up a shoot on a mountaintop, post-hike and surrounded by amazing views, but thanks to a crazy flood warning, we had to make a last minute move to a nearby forest”, explained photographer Caitlyn of CJK Visuals. “The most amazing part was that we had a random black horse just walk up in the middle of our shoot! It couldn’t have been more perfect imperfect timing.”
“I hope this shoot inspires Rock n Roll brides to not stick with the norm. If you want a bad ass black dress, go for it! It might not be traditional, but this black gown is easily the most gorgeous dress I’ve ever photographed, and I would do anything to get more brides that are up for breaking tradition and doing exactly what they want to do.”

I love this shoot because it shows that goth doesn't always have to be black, black and more black. A splash of colour here and there can really work - yes, a colourful goth wedding is totally possible!

Happy Halloween! I hope you have something suitably spooky planned? I'm actually out and about shooting all day, but I'm hoping I can get home in time to catch some trick or treaters later!
To get you well and truly into the spirit of things, I'm going to share not one, but two, amazing Halloween-inspired wedding photo sessions today. Now, I know I said on Facebook recently that I was kinda over styled shoots, but there are always exceptions, and two I have for you today are definitely worth breaking my self-imposed rule. Pop back at 3pm for the second one. It's totally worth it, I promise!

Yep, that's exactly what I thought when I saw this shoot - it's super glam but, man, is it weird. Weird in a good way though... weird is always a compliment! The shoot consists of two parts. The first is more opulent, set in the incredible Gallery of Costume in Platt Hall, Manchester. The second part took place in the nearby woods.

Equestrian Wedding Shoot in Italy

Horses and weddings. Not an obvious combination of inspiration for a shoot (unless you're thinking horse-drawn carriage) but needless to say it works really well. The Autumnal colours, the soft tones and the moody setting make this shoot beautiful and really different.
"Everything took place at the old Ippodrome of San Marone located in Civitanova Marche, Italy", wrote wedding photographer Paolo Manzi. "It's an amazing racecourse in the middle of the countryside. There are only a few race every year, but it's still a lovely place and was perfect for what we had in mind for the shoot."
