I bet you’ve never seen a wedding quite like this! A groom in a purple suit arriving on a camel is totally normal right? The wedding took place in the bride’s parent’s back garden in San Marcos, California, in July.
“My parents had been wanting to remodel the back yard for years, and the wedding gave the excuse to finally do the upgrades they desired”, began Anna, the bride. “They removed several palm trees, built a retaining wall and put in a staircase from the top level to the lower level that ended up being the perfect aisle. They also planted green and purple flowers and vegetation so that the backyard was completely in our colours by the time of the wedding.”
I don’t think we can go much further without mentioning their guest of honour, Camelot the camel! ” Keith just loves camels”, Anna said. “Our home and his desk at work are decorated with dozens of camel figures. Shortly after we started dating, we learned that there is a camel dairy in Ramona. We have been to there many times for their events and shows. However, it was my parents that first suggested that Keith ride into the ceremony on a camel. So, we had to! He came in as Nine Inch Nails played.”
“Our theme was Batman, jesters, trees, camels, Hawaii, and family”, she continued. “We wanted to incorporate the things we love most. Keith’s favourite colours are green and purple and he is also really into Batman. We didn’t want to have an over the top Batman theme, so we went with a jester theme, with Batman touches here and there. Our dog was the ring bearer and walked down the isle with my nephew. Both were wearing jester hats. Our invitations and save the dates were also jester themed.”
“Our tree theme was a bit subtle but I love trees. That is why Keith had a custom tree ring made for me. Our paper leaf wedding favours were also a part of this theme. My earrings were leafy vines, and all of our floral arrangements were mostly green vines and ferns, with very few flowers. During the ceremony, we planted a mulberry tree. We plan on planting a tree in the yard of every house that we live in from now on. Finally, our guest book was a bare bonsai tree that my friend painted for us. The guests put their purple and green thumb prints on the tree as leaves.”
“One of our best decisions was to book our wedding planner, Sonya of Productions by Parker. She kept us sane. We originally hired her to make sure my parents did not over-exert themselves. They are older and I did not want them stressed out about having over 100 people in their home, even if they knew 90% of them. Sonya took care of everything, and by the day of the wedding I was completely stress-free. I thought I would be a bridezilla, but I was calm and had fun, and that is all because of Sonya!”
