With a vintage black dress as the starting point, photographer Amy Cloud set out to style and shoot an alternative, yet elegant wedding inspiration session. The shoot took place on The Great Salt Lake in Utah.
“I love untraditional weddings and knew I wanted to do a shoot with a black dress”, she explained. “Once I found the dress everything else fell together. I wanted a slight dark yet romantic feel. I incorporated golds and purples to tie the theme together.”
I think this would make a lovely starting point for a winter wedding – black wedding dress, black cake, gold cutlery, purple flowers… what do you think?

As a girl who's more than slightly obsessed with weddings and photography, there's pretty much nothing more thrilling to me than discovering new (to me) wedding photographer that is INCREDIBLE. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does I feel like I've won the wedding-blogging-lottery. And don't even get me started on what happens when I discover a videographer with as much talent as this. Actual tears people, there were actual tears.

"I don’t like your typical styled shoot," wrote wedding photographer Brooke Davis. "I just I have to come clean here. I decided that if I do one it has to be different."
And different is what Brooke does best. Not just 'Ohh let's throw a few random things together from a decided 'theme' and see what works... like, hum... how about a goth wedding shoot? we haven't seen anyone do that for a while... Or what's the latest movie blockbuster, can that become a wedding shoot? That will be sooo popular on wedding blogs'.

Happy Halloween! I hope you have something suitably spooky planned? I'm actually out and about shooting all day, but I'm hoping I can get home in time to catch some trick or treaters later!
To get you well and truly into the spirit of things, I'm going to share not one, but two, amazing Halloween-inspired wedding photo sessions today. Now, I know I said on Facebook recently that I was kinda over styled shoots, but there are always exceptions, and two I have for you today are definitely worth breaking my self-imposed rule. Pop back at 3pm for the second one. It's totally worth it, I promise!

I think we can agree that this styled shoot is what the word 'fierce' was always destined for. From the bodycon lacy red dress worn with golden spiked crown, to the hot shower scene, to the flaming ring of fire drawn around the couple in the ceremony shots!! Photographer Jamie Allio wanted to shake things up a bit in the world of weddings when she devised this photo session.

The desert is one of my favourite places. It wasn't always (dusty, dry, hot..!), but after visiting Nevada four or five times now, I've finally succumbed to it's charms. It's just so enormous and spectacular! It's the kind of landscape that you'll never see anywhere else so is it any surprise then that so many couples opt to drive out there for their wedding shoots?
