If you want to see photography that pushes boundaries then look no further than MangoRED . This Filipino duo have been pushing my buttons ever since I first discovered them waaaaay back at the beginning of 2009 . Their work continues to inspire me to this day. Why? Because they’re continually pushing themselves to create. Their work has evolved – almost into a completely different beast – but the essence of unadulterated and unapologetic creativity has remained a constant.
Francis & Mayone’s engagement shoot is a collaboration of photography, collage and sketch. The mixed media approach adds a whole new dimension and evokes a different feeling than photography alone. I love how dark these shots are too. Yes, it’s shot on a beach but that doesn’t mean it should all be sunshine, deckchairs and candy floss.
FYI Some of the images after the ‘jump’ are potentially NSFW.
Thank you to Ryan & Randall of MangoRED for sharing these with us today.

"Angelo and I were super lucky to have design/photography duo Everywhere We Shoot on board to do our prenup photography," bride-to-be Rin writes. "These guys are friends who frequent the same gigs, art spaces, and thrift shops that we go to. Their philosophy has always been to keep doing and creating, not for money, but just because they love what they do. And knowing that we were on a budget-DIY-wedding, they agreed to do a pro bono engagement shoot for us in a heartbeat. I was also blessed to have a former schoolmate slash band groupie of mine, Kitty Caragay, do my make-up."

Honestly? I'm not going to pretend that I really understand this shoot... but for some reason I just really love it. It must be the weird juxtaposition between designer handbags, shoes on a roof, giant bunnies and bondage... and hell, I'm not adverse to a bit of randomness!

It may be a massive generalisation, but in my experience no-one does engagement shoots like those creative folks in The Philippines. It's very rare that I featured these kinds of shoots any more, but when I'm presented with something like this, there is no way I'm going to turn it down!

I don't feature a while load of engagement sessions on my blog, but I simply couldn't resist Jeni & Manny's urban beach session. "When Boston make up artist/hair stylist extraordinaire, Jeni Teran, contacted me regarding engagement photos with her fiancé, I immediately started brainstorming!" wedding photographer Shannon Grant told me. "How would I do justice to such a sweet and (ahem) gorgeous couple?"

A Boxing Engagement: Jmie & KC

I have another amazing engagement shoot from Rex of WeDoItForLove for you this morning. I've said it before and I'll say it again - no-one does engagement shoots like those Filipino wedding photographers!
Jmie & KC love contact sports, particularly boxing, so theming their shoot around this was a really fun way for them to celebrate their engagement. "People usually choose themes where they will look really beautiful", Rex told me. "So it was really awesome that they chose a theme that's was a bit gritty and less beautiful. It also didn't need so much styling as they already owned all the kit. The shoot was devised around the 'actions' which made it really fun to do."

I have a little two part-er for you right now. Omar & Junela gothic engagement and Rock n Roll wedding were both so awesome I had to share them together - first up the ridiculously inspiring engagements. The editing is big, brash and in your face, but I think it really works with the gothic theme of this session. I am in actual LOVE!
Thanks to Jomel for sharing. Your work is amazing and so different. Love love love
