Stéphanie & Wendy were married in Paris, on a bateau-mouche (an open top excursion boat) on the river Seine. Stéphanie is French & Wendy is American. They live in San Francisco together but wanted to return to Paris for the wedding…and what could be more romantic that a boat ride around the city?!
Newlywed Stéphanie told me about their day, “Our magical day started with a smile and a ray of sun while having breakfast on a Parisian terrase. Then make up, hair spray, corset and dress made us even more impatient. A beautiful stroll in the Tuileries garden gave us the pleasure of admiring stormy clouds and gentle light while on our way to the boat. We cruised away on the lovely Seine, telling each other that it will be beautiful and forever in front of our friends and family. This was magical and even more….We walked home hand in hand looking at the City of Light, smiling and happy.”
The couple booked Pimprunelle Photography to shoot their nuptials as they loved her Holga photography.
Thank you to Stéphanie & Wendy and photographer Cécile for sharing these with us today.

Michelle & Deborah's touching ceremony was one of the main reasons I wanted to share their wedding with you all today. Quite apart from all the beautiful and individual details the couple put into their day, the readings and poems that they selected for their ceremony made this wedding really special and signified their relationship perfectly.
They chose Shakespears Sonnet 116, a section from the children's book "I Like You" by Sandol Stoddard and "I carry your heart with me" by E.E Cummings for their vows. Finally in order to include the fight for equality they read the Massachusetts ruling on marriage. They thought it was so simple and basic and spelled out what marriage meant to them in a perfect way.
"FROM GOODRIDGE V DEPT OF HEALTH (Mass. 2003): Marriage is a vital social institution. The exclusive commitment of two individuals to each other nurtures love and mutual support; it brings stability to our society. Without question, civil marriage enhances the “welfare of the community.” It is a “social institution of the highest importance.” Civil marriage is at once a deeply personal commitment to another human being and a highly public celebration of the ideals of mutuality, companionship, intimacy, fidelity, and family… Because it fulfils yearnings for security, safe haven, and connection that express our common humanity, civil marriage is an esteemed institution, and the decision whether and whom to marry is among life’s momentous acts of self-definition….It is undoubtedly for these concrete reasons, as well as for its intimately personal significance, that civil marriage has long been termed a 'civil right'."

As we kick of 2020, I'm not sure I can think of a more perfect feature than this roaring 1920s themed vow renewal! And OMG is she a beauty! We feature quite a few vow renewals, but not often those of LGBTQ couples, so I was super excited to hear all about Kaitlin and Stephanie's love story. The day began life as a styled shoot, but they decided to renew their vows for real. They were married in Paris originally so wanted nods to this throughout too.

Shauna and Joe decided on the historic and beautiful Montmartre for their September 2019 wedding. The day was held at Hotel Particulier, the smallest hotel in Paris which has only five guest rooms. It meant they could take over the entire place with their 30 guests and hold their ceremony in the beautiful courtyard garden. The best part was that the distinctive décor meant they didn't need to add any extra decorations themselves.

When this photo shoot landed in my inbox this week with the description "Barbie & Ken's wedding" I thought oh christ...what's this?! However I've got to say that as soon as I saw the photographs my initial sceptism and preconceptions were totally irradicated. I laughed as I looked at each photo, set up to show Barbie & Ken getting married and photographed in the way an actual wedding might be. The quality of the photos are totally brilliant - and there lies the hilarity.

I saw this wedding and I instantly fell in love - with the location, with dress and with Cindy & Sebastian themselves. Prepare to be transported into wedding inspo heaven...
The Indonesian wedding was held at St Laurentius church with the reception that followed at Maxi's Cafe in Bandung. The couple were inspired by 18th century french opulence and Marie Antoniette for their theme. They transformed their reception venue into the Gardens of Versailles. "Marie Antoinette has been an inspiration to me since I was very young", explained Cindy. "I remember buying a lot of things related to Marie Antoinette, like grayish blue color apparels, pictures and even cakes that reminded me of her. That is why I chose to take my cue from her on my wedding theme. I searched and decided on things mostly on my own - decorations, flowers, my wedding dress and the bridesmaids dresses, the wedding cake, accessories and ambiance music. I loved how our wedding was filled with details that go back to her era."

Welcome to Elodie & Alexis' gorgeous French wedding. If you loved their engagement shoot this morning, then their nuptials are gonna blow your socks off! The wedding ceremony was held in the bride's parent's back garden which they decorated themselves. Alexis picked all the flowers and pulled together a bouquet of wheat for Elodie to carry down the aisle.
As I said in this morning's post, the couple are both deaf and found their film-loving deaf photographer Ashton Jean-Pierre at World Deaf Art Festival in Reims, near Paris, last Summer.
