“Music is what brought us together (this quote was featured on our invite) and we decided to base our wedding around our mutual love of music,” newlywed Tania told me. “We decided that we would use the term ‘Love Rocks’ throughout our wedding and incorporate the music theme through all the wedding details.”
“Our wedding was rock, glam and vintage. We had an awesome 1950’s Vintage Bus that had been restored. The board at the front of the bus said “Love rocks”. Our bomboniere was music note keyrings with scalloped gift tags that said ‘Love Rocks’ on them. The centrepieces were DIY lace covered votive candle holders with vintage music note love heart table scatters and shabby chic table numbers. We used red black and white as our wedding colours as music paper is black and white and roses are red. Birds were also featured on our invites, tea light candle holders in centrepieces and on bunting decorating the reception as birds are connected to love and song. We both wanted a wedding that reflected us as a couple and we wanted it to be fun and colourful. The music we used in our wedding was also a very important part of our wedding.”
As you can see Tania & Jay’s wedding is perfect for Rock n Roll Bride. They used personal and crafted details as well as a load of awesome independent suppliers that they found though Etsy to make their wedding totally unique. “Tania & Jay’s wedding was fun, well planned and totally THEM, ” confirmed their photographer Janine Kaye . “Jay has a huge passion for music and Tania loves crafty stuff. She organised everything herself and it looked amazing. For the location photos we wanted something a little different with an urban grungy feel..an abandoned warehouse, their favourite music store and red wall to highlight their fun props.”
Thanks to Tania & Jay and photographer Janine for sharing these today.

People often ask me if I ever get bored of blogging about weddings. I can see why because usually once you've been doing something - anything - for as long as I have been doing this, it's natural to think that you might start to become a little 'over' it. So while I'm not going to pretend that I'm always thrilled, overjoyed and amazed by every wedding that graces my inbox, I can safely say that I am probably as far from 'over' this job as I could be... especially when I get sent images like Polly and Jamie's wedding to drool over.

Isn't it funny when two of your worlds collide? I've been stalking following Talia on Instagram for ages (I love love love her cute kawaii style!) and so when I received their wedding photographs from Eric Roland I literally jumped up and down with glee! I knew this wedding was going to be awesome from the few sneaks I'd seen on her feed but I was little prepared for this level of amazement...

Punk Rock Wedding: Lauren & Con

October 15, 2012
Being unapologetically punk rock in their everyday lives, having a punk themed wedding was really the only option for Lauren & Con, who tied the knot at Pavilion Gardens, Mt Tamborine, Australia. "We’re punks so we wanted to have a wedding we’d enjoy but still wanted it to be nice and have most of the usual wedding trimmings for both us and the family", Lauren wrote. "We weren't trying to do things differently on purpose, we just did things the way we wanted and it all turned out awesome."

Bernadette & Peter decided they wanted to host their wedding in their own back garden. Having built their own home from the ground up, having the celebration there was really important to them both. "We're no spring chickens!" the bride laughed. "We had a slightly unusual wedding because we first built our home, then had three children and only then got married.

Michelle & Deborah’s Romantic Parisian Themed Wedding
Kat
April 1, 2011
Michelle & Deborah's touching ceremony was one of the main reasons I wanted to share their wedding with you all today. Quite apart from all the beautiful and individual details the couple put into their day, the readings and poems that they selected for their ceremony made this wedding really special and signified their relationship perfectly.
They chose Shakespears Sonnet 116, a section from the children's book "I Like You" by Sandol Stoddard and "I carry your heart with me" by E.E Cummings for their vows. Finally in order to include the fight for equality they read the Massachusetts ruling on marriage. They thought it was so simple and basic and spelled out what marriage meant to them in a perfect way.
"FROM GOODRIDGE V DEPT OF HEALTH (Mass. 2003): Marriage is a vital social institution. The exclusive commitment of two individuals to each other nurtures love and mutual support; it brings stability to our society. Without question, civil marriage enhances the “welfare of the community.” It is a “social institution of the highest importance.” Civil marriage is at once a deeply personal commitment to another human being and a highly public celebration of the ideals of mutuality, companionship, intimacy, fidelity, and family… Because it fulfils yearnings for security, safe haven, and connection that express our common humanity, civil marriage is an esteemed institution, and the decision whether and whom to marry is among life’s momentous acts of self-definition….It is undoubtedly for these concrete reasons, as well as for its intimately personal significance, that civil marriage has long been termed a 'civil right'."

An Australian Wedding with Pops of Colour: Asha & Greg

May 4, 2012
I love when weddings with bright pops of colour like Asha & Greg's brighten up my inbox. They really do make me smile! However I love them even more when the people behind the wedding seem like just the kind of guys I'd like to be friends with...if only they didn't live in Australia! "We didn't have a theme as such because we didn't want to confine our choices," Asha told me. "We found things we liked, which suited our style, and I suppose a loose theme just organically grew from there. My parents collect a lot of old antique trinkets so we used those as the starting point for our reception decorations and added lots of bright fresh flowers. We also wanted to incorporate some music references because music is what really brought us together."

Retro Bowling Club Wedding with an Ocean View: Nat & Sam
Kat
November 30, 2012
The retro wedding of Nat & Sam is perfect... literally perfect. I just know you're going to go nuts for Nat's nostalgic bridal style, their ocean view ceremony and the reception that looks like it stepped right out of the past.
"Our ceremony was at Burrows Park Headland, Sydney", explained Nat. "The ceremony spot was a beautiful cliff edge looking over the Pacific Ocean and located right next to the Bowling Club where we had the reception. We loved that the only way to get to it was via a very long, natural aisle sheltered on one side by trees, which we decorated with Chinese lanterns. For our reception we chose Clovelly Bowling Club. It was cheap as chips to hire, the drinks prices stuck in the 1980s, and the tacky bright blue carpet and a strange old picture of the Queen flanked by two Aussie flags above a stage which houses an ancient piano (which we tuned up and used!) were AWESOME! As soon as we walked in we looked at each other and said 'Yes!'. Oh, and it had 180 degree ocean views!"
