Nessa & Josh eloped on a rooftop in Austin, Texas. The bride explained, “We really wanted to strip down a ceremony to what it’s really about – two people, in love. I wanted something personal and close; stress free and beautiful. We didn’t have rings yet, so we brought some vintage fox playing cards instead. The card decision was one part Josh: “I want something something non-floral as a boutonniere”, one part me: “These are so cute, we have to use these” and one part our combined love for Fantastic Mr. Fox.”
“It was perfect,” she continued, “we got up early, put our glasses on and were married within two hours of waking. For the reception, we sat around watching all of the Die Hard movies and eating leftovers. It was the quintessential Nessa and Josh experience.”
Don’t you just love the simplicity and beauty of this? I’m so excited to share this with you all today. Thanks to Nessa, Josh & photographer Caroline for letting me!

Sarah and Adam's wedding was a true reflection of them. They love anime and Star Wars, so that was their starting point! The day was held at Priston Mill, Bath, in December. They wanted their day to be quirky (like them!) but also fun for their guests. They had retro games set up on the balcony of the barn and devised various drinking games, matching their theme, for their guests!

Getting engaged on the top of Toyko Tower in Japan in 2010, Emalie & Duncan's wedding was never going to be traditional. With a bride rocking mermaid green hair and a groom adding a much needed modern twist to the tweed suit, this couple wanted a wedding that screamed 'them'. A field in Cookhill, Evesham was chosen as the location and the pair were married outside, in front of a homemade giant heart shaped flower wreath.

Angela and Richard were married at The Reading Rooms in Berkswell in May. The groom manages a hotel and sees expensive and impersonal weddings every week, so this couple certainly knew what they didn't want for their day. What they did want simply evolved from the things they love.

A DIY Wedding in Downtown Santa Ana: Candice & Nathaniel

October 17, 2012
One of the things that bums be out about living in the UK is that we can't get married anywhere we like - of course many couples these days opt for a humanist ceremony at the spot of their choice with the 'legal bit' taking place a few days before or after, but it's not really the same. And when I see ceremonies as gorgeous as Candice & Nathaniel right in the heart of Downtown Santa Ana, I'm even more envious!
The wedding took place on June 3rd. The couple organised everything themselves and did so for less than $5000. The ceremony was held on 2nd Street Promenade, and the reception was at Memphis at the Santora, just round the corner. The couple met online and had their first date in the area, and Nathaniel proposed on New Years Eve at Memphis at the Santora,. Basically it was the obvious location for them to have their wedding too!

Geeky Robot Wedding: Nick & Barbara

December 20, 2012
Nick & Barbara's Pennsylvania wedding took place in August. "We started out telling people it was 'classy nerd picnic', began the bride. "But I think it ended up having a lightly late 40s, early 50s DIY aesthetic in bright colors with robots, Lego and family references everywhere. I can remember trying to explain this to our day-of planners for the first time and the poor man told me I needed to go and figure out what I wanted. But this was what we wanted! I like things where the theme isn't neatly tied up in a bow, and I think when everything was put together it radiated joy and silliness."
"We met in marching band in high school. We really rocked that trumpet section, and by 'rocked', I mean we didn't pay attention and mostly made fun of each other", she continued "I awkwardly asked Nick to a dance, Nick awkwardly asked me to be his girlfriend almost a year later, and nine years after that we got married. If our wedding is a testament to anything, it is to how many jokes you can accrue in ten years and to how much we were already a part of each other's families."

This laid back couple met online and spent their first dates huddled on Laura's sofa, watching movies and eating food that she'd cooked. So needless to say when it came to their wedding they wanted to keep it as low key as possible too. "We have always been such an easy couple, lots of love and not much hassle of going overboard with things", Laura explained. "His proposal a year after we met was perfect. We were in the mall and he pulled me into a photo booth and he proposed while the photos were being taken inside. It was perfect!"
