Rachel & Daniel got married at The Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, a modern building that gave their vintage styled wedding an unusual twist. The bride wore a gorgeous dress from Rock n Roll Bride favourite Fur Coat No Knickers . To keep things personal, they made their own cake (“It looked fine as long as it wasn’t in a strong light!” the bride laughed. “The ribbons were held in place by satay skewers – all we could find the night before we delivered it to the venue!”)
The day got off to a stressful start (to say the least!) when The Pope decided it would be a nice day to come and visit the UK (first visit since 1982 and the first *state* visit since Henry VIII!) so as you can imagine London was pretty much gridlocked! However apart from the meal being served a little late and a bit of a nightmare getting to the venue it all turned out perfectly in the end. “Daniel plus his best man, his girlfriend and Jo (our photographer) had to traipse across the west end, through an anti-Pope demo, while I had to trek across St James’s Park in my dress and shoes!” the bride recounted. “Unbelievably, we both got there in time for our ceremony, which was conducted to the sound of police helicopters overhead. The Pope’s visit itself made for quite a unique event – the venue were great and let us move our meal back by 30 minutes so we could all watch the Pope go past from the balconies. Daniel’s mum also managed to get interviewed by the News of the World newspaper who were keen to find out why she was all dressed up!”
Well that’s certainly a story to tell the Grandkids!
Thanks to Rachel & Daniel and their photographer Jo for sharing this gorgeous wedding today

Charlotte and Leo, originally from Brighton but currently living in Liverpool, knew they wanted to marry in the city where they met. So they planned their wedding from afar and booked out an entire guest house right on the sea front to accommodate their guests! A Room with a View has nine guest rooms and was the perfect place for everyone to get ready. The floor to ceiling windows looking over the beach and pier made for some great photos from Lisa Devlin too!

A Quirky Railway Museum Wedding: Emily & Rob

October 18, 2012
Having visited East Anglian Railway Museum since she was a little girl (and in more recent times, every September for their beer festival), Emily always knew it was the place she wanted to get married. In her own words, they chose the Town Hall for the reception, and the pub for the lunch "out of necessity", but luckily for them the sun shone for the whole day and in the end all venues were equally stunning. "People loved that we had three venues throughout the day", she explained. "We even had the miniature railway running for the children at the railway museum."

Laid Back & Vintage-Inspired Cripps Barn Wedding: Laura & Tom

Emma Case
May 15, 2013
Sometime late last Summer I strolled into my favourite wedding boutique to visit my friends, Laura & Emma, who own it. Whenever I'm in central London I always pop into Fur Coat No Knickers to see their latest pretty vintage wedding dresses, to drink some Cava and to catch up on all the latest gossip. But this fateful day in August was different. I was greeted at the door with squeals from Laura, "I'm engaged! Tom Proposed last week!" she shrieked. More Cava was popped and we started to discuss all things wedding - but this time not other people's - hers!

A Very London Wedding: Naomi & Chris

December 12, 2011
I was hanging out at Fur Coat No Knickers a few weeks ago catching up on my vintage fashion/wedding industry-based gossip, when in breezed an excited girl who had just got married in one of their beautiful wedding dresses. Naomi had popped back in to show Laura & Emma some of her wedding photos and as soon as I heard the words 'wedding photos' I immediately jumped out from behind the dresses to have a nosy myself (Poor Naomi, I must have given her a heart attack...turns out she was a regular reader of this little wedding blog throughout her planning!)
Anyway I loved the photos Naomi showed us on her phone, so when I received the submission from her photographer Sarah Lauren I was thrilled that I would be able to share them with you too!

A Vintage Festival Wedding…in the Rain!: Natasha & Charlie
Kat
December 5, 2011
Natasha & Charlie are the kind of couple that wedding photographers dream of - creative, unique in their inspiration and totally in love. The bride told me all about their vintage festival wedding. It may have rained for their outdoor ceremony, but it certainly didn't damper their spirits!
"Even though I had prayed for months for sun on our wedding day, it still rained! I thought that this would ruin the day as everything we had planned involved being outside – including the ceremony. Just before we were due to go down, the wedding organiser at Maunsel House said that it was raining and tried to convince me to move everything inside. But I couldn’t bare the thought of not getting married under the beautiful bandstand as this had been my dream from the start – so I made everyone stand outside with umbrellas! It actually turned out really well and everybody loved it – the pictures of everyone with umbrellas looked great as well!"

I honestly don't know where to begin describing Emma & Pete's wedding to you all. From the reaction to just the sneak peek post (epic) that I put up last week, I know pretty much the whole of blog-land has been eagerly awaiting to see this wedding too and so I'm pretty flipping honoured that not only was I invited (and let into the secret that it was a surprise wedding!) but that Emma & Pete have allowed me to share it with you all. I have the best job in the world.
