I was excited when I featured Olivia & Mark’s engagement session a few weeks ago (they are another Rock n Roll Bride couple and found their photographer Lisa Devlin on the blog) but when Lisa sent me in their wedding the other day I was even more excited! I really do have the best readers don’t I!?
“Olivia & Mark are originally from LA and wanted to give their friend’s and family a quintessentially English experience for their wedding” Lisa told me. “When we woke up in The Cotswolds to the sound of lashing rain, I thought they were going to get the full glory of a British Summer and it would be wellies all round. Their optimism was infectious and everything was set up for an outdoor ceremony in the grounds of Barnsley House , although some bin bags were left on their paper lanterns until the last moment. This has got to be one of the most gorgeous venues in England and the sun came out as Olivia crossed the lawn with her Dad, causing Mark to well up. I loved that she went for full-on glamour with lashes and deep red lips, it went well with her dramatic dress. Her close friend, Josh was the ‘bridesmaid’ and did such a stirling job, I’m thinking of hiring him for other weddings.”
Thanks to Lisa and of course the fantasticlly cool Olivia & Mark for sharing their wonderful wedding with us today

Pastel Colours for a 1950s Inspired Wedding: Emily & James

As soon as I laid eyes on Emily's incredible silver embellished 1950s inspired wedding dress I was smitten. What an utterly gorgeous bride and a completely beautiful wedding. I couldn't wait to get it on these digital pages of mine! The couple were married at Edes House, Chichester and had their reception at the groom's father's house in Bosham.
"We wanted our wedding day to completely reflect James and I", Emily told me. "This was something we kept in mind during the whole process, as I think it is easy to lose sight of what and who weddings are for, when you are surrounded by so many people in the wedding industry telling you that you absolutely need this and definitely need that.
We both adore the 1950s and the pastel shades, and I really feel like these things were very present in the whole day. We also chose from the beginning which things would be the most important to us - these ended up being the food/drink for James and the flowers for me. We chose a catering company who were very local and produced the most delicious food. We hand picked each of the types of alcohol we chose, with Arundel Ales coming from Sussex and the cider coming from Appledram which is just around the corner from the reception."

An Elegant & Eclectic North London Wedding: Tommy & Emma

May 28, 2012
Tommy & Emma were married at Stoke Newington Town Hall, with a reception at the amazing The Roost in Dalston, London. Far from a traditional wedding venue, it often plays host to TV or film crews and provided a really unique and quirky setting for their celebration. "Our wedding was homemade & eclectic", Emma explained "elegant with rough edges… a bit like us!"

Regula & Bruno’s Creative, Spooky & Wonderful Wedding (Part One)

"Regula & Bruno rock my world"...that's how photographer Assassynation introduced me to this bad ass couple when she sent me their wedding. The pair are from Belgium but wanted to be married in England. Their ceremony day was followed by a tea party reception and spooky photo shoot in an abandoned fairground (!) in their home country a few weeks later. Luckily for us all, this second part took place just last weekend and believe me, I'm going to be featuring it just as soon as the photos are ready!
But for now, it's all about the ceremony...

Colour Pop Glaswegian Wedding: Claire & Tom

February 18, 2013
Marrying her sweetheart in August of last year, newlywed Claire told me all about their Glaswegian wedding. "Whilst on paper our wedding wasn't overtly Rock n Roll, our journey to get down the aisle definitely offers a slightly offbeat tale. Namely because in the two years leading up to our nuptials we collectively lost ten stone between us - the equivalent of 20ish new-born babies, a Saint Bernard dog, or Britney Spears. The toughest journey of my life, losing 70% of our collective weight drop, I lived, breathed and blogged the whole shebang, and whilst I still have a few more pounds to shift, that I made it down the aisle in the most beautiful dress I've ever seen, no longer morbidly obese, is the proudest moment of my life so far."

A Black & Red, 50s Rock n Roll Wedding: Hannah & Lewiss
Kat
August 1, 2012
Hannah & Lewiss' small and sweet wedding was held at St Fagans Castle, the National History Museum of Wales. For their evening party they moved to the trendy Jolyons at No.10, a boutique hotel in the heart of Cardiff. The venue choices were important to this couple and they both wanted places that stood out. Hannah explained, "We both didn't believe in long engagements so we set a date for 9 months after we got engaged. Finding a unique venue was important to us, but this was harder than we imagined. Living in Cardiff, we wanted somewhere in South Wales but it seemed to be flooded with chain hotel venues or vast historic buildings which were too big for the small wedding we had dreamed of. After overlooking it a couple of times we went to visit St Fagans Castle. St Fagans is the National History Museum of Wales, an outdoor museum full of historical buildings from all around the country. The Castle is a Grade 1 listed Elizabethan Manor House set in the most fabulous gardens. Even though it wasn’t what we originally had in mind, we knew straight away it was perfect. Also it’s in the area where Lewiss grew up and his parents still live, so it being local meant a lot to him."

We may be well on our way towards the depths of winter (waah!) but I thought I'd just cling onto those hazy Summer days for just a little while longer by sharing Lynne & Stevie's June wedding. The quintessentially British vibe perfectly accompanied by vintage and retro touches was just too good to pass up.

We Heart Pictures
August 5, 2013
When Kirsty and Steve planned to marry they knew they wanted tradition to play no part in it. This started with their surname. Instead of keeping their own names or one of them taking the other's they decided to merge their two names to create a brand new one. So Kirsty Foster and Steve Pate became Mr & Mrs Fate!
When it came to capturing their wedding day they wanted photos that were bright, romantic, playful, with a little kooky edge. They found We Heart Pictures through Rock n Roll Bride and couldn't have been happier with their choice! They wedding took place on June 7th at Hoxton Hall, London.
