Heather & Neil’s sunny, yellow and turquoise themed wedding was actually not as sunny as it appears! While the wedding party got ready it poured with rain, yet luckily for all, when it came to the portraits (which I heart ) the sun shone. Great photographs like this will make any wedding day look happy, relaxed and sun-filled…even if it’s pouring with rain!
Heather wore a dress from David’s Bridal and her amazing necklace was from Anthropologie.
Thanks to Ashley for sharing these with us today

You may have seen a few a snippets of this wedding gorgeousness on a number of other blogs, however I've gotta go that one step further and get you the full scoop on the wedding behind these glorious images.
Katie & Nathan's wedding took place in the Groom's parent's back garden. They decided on a simple yet stunning green and white theme which was perfectly reflected in their surroundings. Katie's dress was a vintage find and Nathan wore a suit from Zara. Unconventionally the couple had their reception they day before their ceremony. They decided they would rather have a full day to perfectly engross themselves in their temple wedding without feeling at all distracted by the craziness of a reception to follow.
Nathan said:
It worked out perfect for us. Party hard the night before, and enjoy the simplicity of the temple ceremony with family and close friends the day after. Highly recommend it.
A huge thank you to Nathan & Katie for allowing me to share their wedding. Images from this set can also be found on some of my other favourite blogs including {frolic} and {Casando Idieas}

Remember Keith & Rachel's screamingly (yes I did just make that word up) awesome engagement session? well oh oh oh here comes the wedding! Yeeeeey...baby I love them - the dress, the tattoos, the succulents, the lanterns, the location (they got married under the same tree that they had their engagement shoot at), the cupcakes and the simple and beautiful yellow flower in her hair. Yes, I think I'm pretty much crazy about these!
Thanks to the ever delightful Corin for sending these over and to Keith & Rachel for being just way too cool

A Modern Wedding on an Aeroplane: Robyn & Tom
Kat
August 2, 2012
Both air traffic controllers, and with a mutual attention to detail and love for planes, Robyn & Tom were thrilled when they were allowed to get married on a Pacific Western plane at Edmonton Aviation Museum. "It took a lot of convincing but the museum were gracious to allow the bride and groom to use the airplane", explained their Canadian wedding photographer Elizabeth of ENV Photography. "Guests were assigned seats on a seating chart that mimicked the chart that you pick your seat from when booking your plane ticket! Prior to the groom walking down, his sons and daughter walked down the aisle and handed out cookies to all the guests - just like a real airline!"

Rain on your wedding day is a big worry for a lot of couples, but today I'm here to prove to you that it can actually be pretty amazing! Yes, Helen and James' outdoor festival wedding was a wash-out, but they definitely didn't let it ruin their day. Check out the amazing photographs their photographer Neil Thomas Douglas was able to capture... of course shots like this requires a couple who aren't afraid to get a little wet and muddy, but these guys went all out! They even went out in a boat on the river during the downpour!

Atmospheric Lake District Wedding: Helen & Andy

Neil Douglas

I was rather over-excited when I laid eyes on Helen and Andy's Lake District wedding, shot by the amazing Neil Douglas Photography. I mean what could be more incredible than getting wedding day portraits like these in a setting like that!? Hats off to the photographer of course, but also to the awesome couple for not being afraid to potentially get a little wet or muddy. I'd love to see more brave couples like this please, who's with me?
The wedding was held in Buttermere, with the ceremony in a local church and the reception in a tipi in Buttermere field. The couple didn't have a huge budget and opted to DIY and thrift a lot. Helen wore a dress which she bought off eBay for £100 and customised with her grandmother's vintage fur (a last minute edition due to the weather).

A Village Hall, DIY & A Beautiful Bride with Dreadlocks: Gavin & Hollie
Kat
July 10, 2012
I don't see enough brides with dreadlocks. Where are you hiding my dreadlock wielding readers?! My sister and her boyfriend have them (his are down past his waist!) and I find them very intriguing and totally beautiful...
So you can imagine my exuberance when Gavin & Hollie's wedding landed on my lap. "My good friends Gav and Hol got married in April", wrote wedding photographer Anna Clarke. "They are a beautiful and too-cool-for-school couple who had a yellow and green wedding. They did everything themselves including all the printed stuff, going to the flower market to get the flowers, decorating the village hall etc etc. I just love all the colours and Hollie's dreads piled into a big beehive. Her shoes are amaze-balls too..."

A Whimsical Alice in Wonderland Wedding: Kristi & Ben
Kat
July 30, 2012
Our Labor of Love, Sharkpig, The Flashdance, Smilebooth.... oh boy did Kristi & Ben have the dream team behind their San Francisco wedding! With an Alice in Wonderland theme and a ceremony at the Golden Gate Park, they really did go all out to make their wedding day extra special. The reception was held at RF-80, a studio space in the city.
"Our inspiration was the eclectic city we live in combined with a love for all things imaginative", began the bride. "We wanted a wedding that wasn’t cookie cutter and that reflected both of our personalities. There were a lot of DIY elements involved. I scoured wedding blogs for my ideas. I also got inspiration from magazines and store windows. I would recommend figuring out what is doable within your timeframe or it can all get overwhelming. Enlist your friends, buy or make some cake, pop open some champagne and get crafting. It saves you money and gives such a personal touch to your wedding. I'd also advise other no not listen to the masses, they will scowl at your ideas, mostly because they’ve either never seen anything like it before or can’t get the proper visual. It’s your day, do what you want."

The swinging sixties were the inspiration for Kara & Gary's October wedding. That, and giant yellow balloons! The ceremony was held at the impressive Sefton Park Palm House and the reception was at The Hard Days Night Hotel. With the wedding taking place in Liverpool, The Beatles also played a vital role with them cropping up throughout the decor, on the cakes and even as the entertainment!
