I’ve got a feeling you’re going to love this detail-heavy dance-fest. The moody light, the swing band, the bride in her stunning yellow gown, the cupcakes, the portraits…yep this is one pretty damn cool wedding.
Andrew & Aye got married atThe Thaxton in Louis, MO . They converted the indie venue into their speakeasy and swing-dance themed wedding. Both the bride & groom wore custom made outfits – the dress was made by Toni Whitaker and his suit was by Duchess Clothier . The fabulousKim Massie band provided the entertainment.

A Halloween-esque Steam Train of Epicness
Kat
December 21, 2009
Kim & Alex's wedding hit me like a steam train of epicness when I laid eyes on it. I'm pretty sure my insessent ramblings can't bring it justice so I think it's only fair I hand over to Kim with all the fantastic details. As usual, I'll be back with the eye candy.
"Originally our theme was “Halloween Town” from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, but as time went on, our theme evolved beyond Tim Burton to include other geeky things we love as a couple such as zombies, toys, film and... well... Halloween!
We were mostly inspired by films (predominantly Tim Burton and Zombie flicks) and our own Halloween experiences. We just looked at the little things we loved most and used that to make our wedding our own.
I’m in love with Burlesque-wear and wanted to incorporate that whimsical, glam-yet-sexy look to my outfit. Instead of bridal magazines, my fashion designer friend and I looked through many burlesque photos and lingerie books to gather inspiration for my dress. For my shoes, I found the most awesome bright green zombie shoes designed by Iron Fist. They were out of stock in Toronto, so Alex and I sent out all our online Twitter friends on a mad hunt for them. We ended up getting them shipped from Ohio. A few months later, a friend of mine from Chicago found the flat versions of the same zombie shoes, which I was really thankful for. I cannot walk in heels!
The groom’s suit was inspired by Jack Skellington. He didn’t want to take the blatant replica route by getting a pin stripe suit. Instead, his plain black suit had black skeleton appliques all throughout. He even had a hoodie that had the skull on the hood! Since he almost always only exclusively wear Chuck Taylors, he wore black on black Chucks to the wedding. To add a sense of “badass” to his outfit, as well as his groomsmen/groomsgirl, our good friend, We Kill You made us custom pimp sticks for them to walk around with.
We were really lenient with our wedding party when it came to what to wear

Off the Hook Carnival Eye Candy
Kat
November 17, 2009
I knew Amy & Jesse's wedding would be off-the-hook with it's intense awesomeness as soon as I saw and blogged their engagements a while back. Surely a couple this offbeat and rockin' couldn't have anything but a super crazy, kooky, inspirational and incredible wedding day could they? However, even I was blown off my chair when I laid eyes on these little beauties. Their DIY, carnival wedding was not only ridiculously creative and awe-inspiring but the couple themselves literally looked like a candy covered explosion of kick ass attitude and fun all over! (By the way I fully realise that my explanation of my thoughts on this wedding probably make little or no grammatical and linguistical sense - however my intense excitement over getting to blog these appears to have rendered by logical brain dysfunctional!) Got it? Right...on with the show...
A HUGE Rock n Roll thank you to Marina of Red Heart Photography for sending these over. I couldn't wait to blog these (as always) and so the photos below are actually only part 1 & 2 of her posts. Go check out her blog over the next few weeks for even more eye candy!

Rules are Made to be Broken
Kat
July 27, 2010
As many of you will already know, I like to pride myself and my blog on individuality and posting some of the best, exclusive and new weddings out there. However rules are made to be broken right?! I actually saw and loved Alicia & Jack's wedding a while back on another wedding blog (I even included it in a Thursday Treats post) but when their videographer Thomas of Vantage Point Films sent me the link to their gorgeous video (which hasn't been seen elsewhere) I couldn't help but as if I could share some of the photographs taken by Carla Ten Eyck Photography too. Sound good?

Remember Keith & Rachel's screamingly (yes I did just make that word up) awesome engagement session? well oh oh oh here comes the wedding! Yeeeeey...baby I love them - the dress, the tattoos, the succulents, the lanterns, the location (they got married under the same tree that they had their engagement shoot at), the cupcakes and the simple and beautiful yellow flower in her hair. Yes, I think I'm pretty much crazy about these!
Thanks to the ever delightful Corin for sending these over and to Keith & Rachel for being just way too cool

A DIY wedding with Holga images? Oh hell yeah baby!
Shelly & Jeff had a wedding that perfectly epitomised them. From the turquoise and orange pom poms and the personalised 'All You Need is Love' M&Ms to their friend playing 'Blackbird' by The Beatles and Dr Seuss' 'Oh The Places We Will Go' as gifts. From the sparrow salt & pepper shakers as a cake topper and succulents as centrepieces to the their customised 'lunchboxes' by Pink Avocado..oh yes yes yes! Shelly's beautiful dress was by Linda Asaf and I love it all!
Thanks to Katherine for sending these over to me. I am in lurrrve

A Modern Wedding on an Aeroplane: Robyn & Tom
Kat
August 2, 2012
Both air traffic controllers, and with a mutual attention to detail and love for planes, Robyn & Tom were thrilled when they were allowed to get married on a Pacific Western plane at Edmonton Aviation Museum. "It took a lot of convincing but the museum were gracious to allow the bride and groom to use the airplane", explained their Canadian wedding photographer Elizabeth of ENV Photography. "Guests were assigned seats on a seating chart that mimicked the chart that you pick your seat from when booking your plane ticket! Prior to the groom walking down, his sons and daughter walked down the aisle and handed out cookies to all the guests - just like a real airline!"

Margaret & Edi’s INCREDIBLE “Blows-Everything-Else-Out-of-the-Water” Gothic Alice in Wonderland Wedding
Kat

Yeah...so...um...speechless.
....
Seriously people! get a load of this sheeeeeit. OK OK let me get myself together for a second....
Margaret sent me a sneak peek to her incredible wedding to Edi back in October and I had to wait until this week to see the rest of them. Do you know how hard that has been for me?! I actually teased the above photo on Twitter the other day and someone replied asking if it was a photograph of heaven...that's a pretty accurate assumption I think!
The couple were legally married at Edi's parent's house and the reception took place in the fairytale setting of The Bali Room in the Kempinski Hotel, Jakarta and Margaret told me all about it.
"Our theme was Alice in Wonderland. I picked Alice for my theme, because I've loved it since I was a little kid and because my Mom's name is Alice. The main colour was dark purple because purple represents magical and darkness in the same time. its so glamorous! Our family members wore purple shade outfits."

A Village Hall, DIY & A Beautiful Bride with Dreadlocks: Gavin & Hollie
Kat
July 10, 2012
I don't see enough brides with dreadlocks. Where are you hiding my dreadlock wielding readers?! My sister and her boyfriend have them (his are down past his waist!) and I find them very intriguing and totally beautiful...
So you can imagine my exuberance when Gavin & Hollie's wedding landed on my lap. "My good friends Gav and Hol got married in April", wrote wedding photographer Anna Clarke. "They are a beautiful and too-cool-for-school couple who had a yellow and green wedding. They did everything themselves including all the printed stuff, going to the flower market to get the flowers, decorating the village hall etc etc. I just love all the colours and Hollie's dreads piled into a big beehive. Her shoes are amaze-balls too..."
