Fairytales in DIY: A Purple Themed October Loch Wedding
Kat
Elemental
March 4, 2020
They chose Venachar Lochside as the location for their stunning October wedding and Mazz and Alex made all their decisions for the day based on what did or did not spark joy. The bride wore a full purple/ dusky rose ensemble - from her Rosie Red Corsetry dress, painted shoes (which she did herself!) and even her freshly dyed hair. The flowers were a mix of purple and red, to compliment Alex' tartan, and they had pumpkins all over the place to reflect the season.

A DIY, Heart & Confetti-Themed Wedding in The Netherlands: Laura & Nils

August 2, 2011
Laura & Nils were married at a vineyard in The Neatherlands. The laid-back nature of their venue was reflected throughout their entire day. It was important to the couple to put their own stamp on their wedding and so they DIY'd a lot of the details including the bride's dress, the favours (a sweetie table), the cakes and the flowers.

Ashley & Hunter’s Brightly Coloured Wedding
Kat
February 19, 2010
Ashley & Hunter's wedding had me smitten as soon as I saw it. They went for a fun fair theme with brightly coloured and fun pinwheels, noise makers, rock candy, pumpkins and a BBQ from Buz n Neds Barbecue. This pair both have a self-confessed obsession with shoes so Ashley wore an amazing pair from Betsey Johnson with a Marylin Monroe portrait on the sole and Hunter wore red, black and white high top Vans that matched their brightly colored wedding...the bridesmaids even wore red pumps to match.
Ashley dress and veil were XX and teamed it with an amazing antique brooch which she found at Ant Hill Antiques in Carytown in Richmond, Va. Their flowers were vibrant and sunny to match the theme and the bridesmaids all wore their own purple mis-matched dresses.

Quirky, Colourful, Kitsch
Kat
August 25, 2009
I am crazy in love with Tanya & Mark's amazingly colourful DIY wedding! The event took place in Tanya's parent's backyard in Northampton, PA and totally reflected the couple's quirky, colourful, kitschy nature. They really put 100% of themselves into the day. Tanya made the invitations, the felt flowers, the centrepieces and most of the decorations herself and all of the tables were covered with unique vintage fabric sourced from various places throughout the wedding planning. One of my favourite details had got to be the pink flamingos everywhere though! Tanya says she has a slight obsession with John Waters so this detail was a must!
Tanya found her and her Bridesmaid's dress from Ebay and her amazing red birdcage veil from Events and Occasions. Her shoes were from Modcloth and her red petticoat was found at Unique Vintage.
Thanks to Tanya and Mark for sharing their day and all the gorgeous details with us!

Defiantly Joyful, Same Sex Wedding
Kat
June 18, 2009
The reader's survey has now closed. I will be announcing the winner and sharing some of the results later on today. However reader, XX said I should be featuring more same sex weddings, which of course I would love too - but it all depends on what I'm sent or what I find on my wedding hunts. However today you are in luck, as photographer Stephen Loewinsohn send me this gorgeous, and stylish lesbian wedding just yesterday!
Stephen said:
These brides have tons of rockstar style and swagger, and their wedding was just gorgeous in every way. From the amazing outdoor setting, to the beautiful and delicious food, awesome outfits, and just the feeling of love in the air, this was just a really special wedding.
As you know, same-sex marriages are no longer legally recognized in the state of California, but these brides love each other so much that they decided to go ahead and have an awesome wedding anyway. I'm a strong believer in marriage equality as believe you are too. This wedding was an act of rebellion against a stupid law, and what's more rock 'n' roll than rebellion?
Definitely rock n roll and definitely beautiful! Thank you so much Stephen!
