The backyard wedding of Keegan & Vanessa literally melted my heart as soon as I saw it. I love love love all the personal touches in the photos which came from the wedding being held in a family home. In fact as soon as it landed in my inbox I was dying to share it so I’m thrilled that today’s the day to do so!
The wedding took place on 11th February. The ‘at home’ location made the whole day really intimate and really personal. The groom is actually the brother of Amber, one of the photographers, which again, made the whole event special. The ceremony was small, held in the back garden, with only close family in attendance. Friends then joined for the reception.
The day had a real homespun indie vibe. Everything from the stationery to the catering to the cake was made by either the couple or their family.
Thank you to Keegan & Vanessa and photographers Josh & Amber of Ulmer Studios for sharing this with us today.

Carrie and Neil had a red and white wedding with rockabilly and polka dot touches! The day was held at Highbury Hall in Birmingham and was full of DIY décor. "We would like to think we were far more relaxed, friendly and laid-back than other wedding we have been to", began the bride. "So many weddings we have been to seem so stiff and uptight as a whole. We wanted a fun party atmosphere with a live band playing lots rockabilly, plenty of food for people to stuff their faces, and encouraged dancing until your feet dropped off. The word 'formal' never entered our vocabulary."

When I get wedding submissions like Nathan & Laura's I'm literally bursting at the seams to get them published. So sometimes I sneakily share a picture or two on my facebook page. The shot I shared of Nathan's reaction when seeing his bride walking down the aisle totally encompassed this awesome wedding. And it would appear you guys loved it too - over 200 likes and I didn't even show you the stunning bride! Well the wait is over my friends, I'm sure you'll agree it was worth it and that his face was 100% justified. Just look at her!

The DIY wedding of Tom & Jenny took place in Kent in July. After a church ceremony, their low key reception was held in Tom's parent's back garden.
The bride wore a short wedding dress from Yours Truly Bridal Shop in Maidstone which cost her just £180 with a gorgeous headpiece was by a Rock n Roll Bride favourite, Crown & Glory. Alongside her lucky bridesmaids, she wore Vivienne Westwood/Melissa Lady Dragon shoes and instead of bouquets they all carried a single giant faux flower stem, bought from Hobbycraft costing just £2 each!

Philip & Katie-Jane had a handmade wedding in the bride's parent's back garden. They hired a tipi and decorated the whole garden with the things they love - creating a really magical looking space. They even converted the shed into 'The Poppy Red Shed' (Poppy Red is a bar in Birmingham which the bride and groom first met) which they stocked with local ales, spirits and liquours.

Stephanie & Aaron’s Budget ‘Peacock Vintage’ Wedding

July 7, 2011
"The whole wedding was sort of 'peacock vintage' themed," newlywed Stephanie told me. "We really managed to keep the wedding cost pretty low and spent less than $12,000! We was able to do this by making our own centerpieces, boutineers, corsages, invitations, and headpieces. We also used an older, less popular florist because I knew exactly what kind of flowers I wanted, and I provided the ribbon and feathers to her, leaving no room for error."

I Love that Glove

Honestly? I struggled with what to write about today. Usually on a Sunday I'll post something non-wedding related that's caught my eye or I'll share something exciting that I've done in the week. But I shared my Photography Farm retreat escapades in this week's Thursday Treats and since then I've basically been chained to my computer replying to the squillions of emails that came in whilst I was away and writing as many blog posts as physically possible. I also spent rather a lot of time on the phone to Cosmopolitan Magazine. NO BIG DEAL (more on this soon!)
And then this wedding pinged into my inbox and it all became clear.
