You know I’ve got a bit of a ‘thing’ for Marie Antoinette right? Well Marie Antoinette + pink hair couldn’t really be more perfect for Rock n Roll Bride if it tried could it?
“This is what happened when 2 crazy photographers from different states in Australia put their heads together,” began photographer Vanessa. “It all started with a wig Rhondda found on the internet (not the 1 we used actually) and after many chats and emails later we came up with Marie Antoinette as a bride. I wanted a bouquet out of the norm and didn’t really want traditional flowers in it. What better florists to put my thoughts of an “APPLE” bouquet into something fab..”Velvetlily ” florist. So after a talking to them about want I wanted they came up with this amazing result! I also wanted apples and vine in the hair!!..a bit of a task for the make-up artist but we got there in the end.”
“We were also trying to think what other props we could use to make this work…hmmm A PIANO!! After hunting through the internet we finally found an old one that would work perfectly! I didn’t want to over kill the shoot with massive amount of props like you see these days in some other shoots..so we kept it simple with mainly the piano and just a chair. With the costumes again putting a twist on things.”
Gorgeous huh? I’m desperate for a Rock n Roll Bride to rock this look on her actual wedding day!
Big love and thanks to Vanessa & Rhondda for sharing this fab shoot with us today.

As a girl who's more than slightly obsessed with weddings and photography, there's pretty much nothing more thrilling to me than discovering new (to me) wedding photographer that is INCREDIBLE. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does I feel like I've won the wedding-blogging-lottery. And don't even get me started on what happens when I discover a videographer with as much talent as this. Actual tears people, there were actual tears.

Last October I was honoured to be asked to act as a judge for the bridalNEXT! awards which were taking place as part of A Most Curious Wedding Fair. Alongside fellow judges Peta Hunt, fashion editor of You & Your Wedding Magazine, Rachel Atwell, owner of swanky London wedding boutique Luella’s Boudoir, and Hazel Holtham of vintage store & blog Rag and Bow we selected Veronica Dearly as our overall winner, and the one to watch for 2013.
As part of the prize Veronica and the three runners up were invited to take part in an editorial fashion shoot. Now I don't know about you, but if this is the caliber of bridal talent coming out in 2013, it's going to be a very exciting year indeed.

Modern Marie Antoinette Inspiration
Kat
June 7, 2012
The blog is looking rather glamorous this morning with this opulent and feminine Marie Antoinette inspired shoot all over it. The shoot was styled by Tyson Joines and photographed by Rebecca of Tamiz Photography to be a "shoot that was decadent with pearls and jewels, flowers, gold accents and of course the over the top exaggerated appearance of the Marie Antoinette inspired bride."

Faking the Books: A Styled Wedding Shoot with a Difference By Brooke Davis

October 15, 2012
"I don’t like your typical styled shoot," wrote wedding photographer Brooke Davis. "I just I have to come clean here. I decided that if I do one it has to be different."
And different is what Brooke does best. Not just 'Ohh let's throw a few random things together from a decided 'theme' and see what works... like, hum... how about a goth wedding shoot? we haven't seen anyone do that for a while... Or what's the latest movie blockbuster, can that become a wedding shoot? That will be sooo popular on wedding blogs'.

There's nothing that evokes childlike wonder quite like mermaids. I don't think there's any girl who watched The Little Mermaid as a kid and afterwards didn't wanted to be one... So when this shoot, although not strictly wedding inspired, landed in my inbox, I knew I wanted to share it with you. It's pure fantasy but that doesn't make it any less fabulous.

A Runaway Bride Styled Shoot

May 2, 2012
London wedding photographer Ann Charlotte set up this morning's editorial shoot in order to showcase an idea she'd had running through her head for a while. "I love fairytales and this fictional fairytale wedding/fashion shoot was inspired by Alice in Wonderland and the idea of a runaway bride. I wanted to shoot a misunderstood bride, running away from her wedding in tears. After some soul searching she eventually came back home to a waiting husband-to-be and a reconciliation."

For the photo shoot at the latest Photography Farm workshop, photographer Lisa Devlin knew she needed to do something big. After all, at the last Farm Gareth and I got married again! After seeing Megan and Grant's gorgeous wedding on Rock n Roll Bride, and reading how much Megan loves Disney (and just so happens to resemble a certain crimson haired mermaid) the ideas started bubbling away. She wanted to put a different twist on the mermaid idea though and eventually came across the story of Rusalka, from which The Little Mermaid movie was based. Luckily Megan and Grant also loved the idea and we're thrilled to model for her!
